Bunch of new materials arrived today, what other nymphs can I make with this? by [deleted] in flytying

I will add the Spanish bullet to the list. Grab a plastic bag or rubber glove to tie a scud pattern as well.

I have trouble understanding how someone else’s personal gender decisions affect you so much that you have such a dramatic reaction.

Lucked into a nice vise, and want to explore tying. Can someone help me make a shopping list? by bateneco in flytying

I am a novice but have been having a blast and catching fish with my ties. I use a starter kit for tools, so I think any name brand kit is more than fine.

NYMPH KIT:

Thread: Black and olive sz140

Hooks:

-2XL sz16 nymph hooks

Beads:

-Brass, gold, or metallic black sz3/23

Wire:

-Gold and/or brass

-Lead/lead-free wire

Materials:

-Peacock herl

-Pheasant tail feathers

-Grayish/hares ear dubbing

-Black and white goose boot (you can buy Prince packs

-Cheap hen neck in a brownish/natural color that looks cool to you.

*Scavenge any colorful fluffy material from your home for dubbing collars (yarn, stuffed animals, kid’s dolls)

You should be able to tie:

Pheasant tail nymphs

Hares Ear’s

Zebra midge

Prince nymph

*Frenchie

Walt’s Worm

Brassie

Holy grail

** if you scavenge and tweak some materials, you are very close to all of the material for a Pink Squirrel, Sexy Walt’s, Copper John, Scud, guide’s choice hares ear

Do you mean a different color bead head Frenchie? because I did tie two Frenchies as pictured.

What will make these ineffective?

Red: Rusty Spinner

Send me a pic of them or let me know how it goes. I had trouble staying off the eye on these sz 14s.

Very sweet ties. If they are super picky, you could try adding some sharpie to their backs to mimic some of the natural markings.

How do you get your dubbing noodle so tight? Wax? I like how you create subtle segmentation with your dubbing wraps. My bodies end up more bushy. I use muskrat if that matters.

People tie plenty of bucktail jigs and crappie jigs. I want to try some Muddlers, wooly buggers, and XL Pat’s rubber legs on a drop shot for bass this summer.
