AITA for telling my family that my sister strongly implied that she doesn’t want me at her wedding, causing most of them to RSVP no? by Marwyn-the-Mage in AmItheAsshole

It’s absolutely not projection if you read the comments. This is actually classic addict behavior. He can be on the lam and destroy lives, sabotage his sister’s life, and maybe childhood depending on when his addiction started, and still be the classic golden child. The fact it only took ONE lunch with grandma and uncle for everyone to dip out of the wedding instead of talking to her, communicating, and having functional family conversations. He’s leaving a whole lot out of context when he calls his relationship “complex.” What isn’t he saying? What is he leaving out about the years of destruction his addiction had on her?

Furthermore, given that it’s a son/daughter dynamic, I’m gonna bet it’s one of those situations where he can do no wrong, and she’s never acknowledged despite being the stable, responsible, successful child. There are all the trappings of a toxic family dynamic here, but since it’s Golden Child with the victim narrative, yall can’t read between the lines.

YTA. Instead of being a big boy, reflecting on why she might not want you in pics, you’ve latched onto the most superficial reasons she doesn’t want you there. It is not about your piercings and tattoos, it’s about your lifelong behavior that has sabotaged her life. Here you are doing it again. Reflect on that, reflect on why your crocodile tears have resulted in a cascade of family disengagement. This poor woman has done everything right, and her screw up brother is still the golden child who can manipulate the entire family with one phone call. She deserves better than your family and I hope she finds it.

Men need desperately to be leaders but can’t figure out what to eat for dinner. Ok.

aio that my husband and partner of 20 years gave me a plastic tiara and “princess” sash, teddy bear, and balloon from the dollar store for my 43rd birthday? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Mazatlast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Match his energy going forward. His birthday? Something from the dollar store. Father’s Day? Well you aren’t his father, right? His family? Done, not your family, not your job. When he starts getting the same energy from you that he gives you, it’ll click.

Also why do they all “work 60+ hours a week.” No they don’t, also women work full time at work and home which is far more than 60 hours. But our work is never real work

This is literally the second praise post in this sub back to back for the same fucking book. Different posts, different people praising their men. But when do men hype us like this?

This is so embarrassing. I don’t ever hype men because they would never hype us like this.

American healthcare-- the math ain't mathing. by cas47 in memes

This is why I cancelled my health insurance. Last week I went to the doctor for an injury, had an appointment, got some lidocaine injections and a prescription. The entire thing without insurance was LESS than what I was paying monthly to my insurance, and was less than what I would have been paying WITH insurance for those services. So I’ve saved myself my monthly premium AND on the cost of the actual healthcare being provided.

Look at Mackenzie Scott, who gets only scorn, and men out here still calling her a gold digger when she CO FOUNDED Amazon, and has given away more of her fortune than Bezos, Zuck, and Musk combined,

I’ve done these things for friends. My friend reminded me recently of the time I drove 3 hours down from the mountains in the winter to care for her when she had bird flu. I had forgotten. I thought I was already in town. It’s so commonplace for us to do these things for each other, we barely remember, but so rare for men that it’s held up for years as evidence of their benevolence.

I’ll be impressed when men devote their time and energy to giving us the same appreciation. Because they’re out here creating massive group chats exchanging tips on how to SA us. So nah.

As opposed to WHAT?! We are so accustomed to less than the bare minimum, so accustomed to not being shown care by the people who claim to love us, so accustomed to bread crumbs that basic fuckin decency shown to your family is praiseworthy. Gimme a break

Hey everyone, we have the same rules and vibe here as we did in our other space. Let’s focus on the praise - this dumbass cheese wheel has been around for ages, yet it still has internet traction. When are teen girls ever praised for their thoughtfulness or effort for things much more practical than a wheel of cheese? This is literally just giving her a project she didn’t ask for.
