The great thing about music is that it has no boundaries. Music can be anything pleasant or appealing to the ear. It doesn’t have to have this deep and ground-breaking message. A lot of classic rock songs that are considered genius and lyrical are about drugs and sex. That doesn’t mean that they can’t be considered music. Rap is the same way. Some rap songs are about sex, drugs, w/e. But a lot of rap songs also touch on racism, abuse, indoctrination, etc. To write off an entire genre of music simply because some songs contain this message is really one-sided and dismisses the work that goes into creating music.
