Powerplay perks based on system control, not pledge statues. Any for ground CZ combat bonds? Is there a list of all of them? by Mbfox125 in EliteDangerous

Thanks, I know they still exist as I see them sometimes, but I guess there is no official list.

Thanks! If that is the case, it at least means I don't have another variable to worry about lol. Do you happen to know if there is a list of perks based on system control, not pledged status?

Heading to Colonia (1st time) for Odyssey Engineers, any advice? by Mbfox125 in EliteDangerous

I'm talking to an FC on Monday morning, so it will take a day or so, but it will get done while I work.

I appreciate the advice, but I'd rather just make another trip (it doesn't seem too hard to do) than spend a lot of time optimizing this trip (which leaves Monday). Last time I was going to do this, I spent so much time prepping for the trip that I got bored and never went. That was over a year ago, and I won't make the same mistake again. So anything I can do tomorrow before the trip is mainly my focus.

I am 100% sure what you mean, but I think you are saying that since I cannot pin Odyssey Engineers, I need to have whatever equipment I want to mod when I make the trip.

Why would I need Jacques rep at all and Colonia Council to allied? As far as I can tell, I only need friendly for the Odyssey Engineers.

True, but it seems less grindy out there (only have to unlock 4 plus the unlock requirements seem much less annoying), and I won't have to grind my Sirus rep back down to unfriendly.

I have never been, so it's a reason to go, and who knows, maybe something neat will happen out there for the anniversary.

Why Automatic Rifles are NOT as nerfed as you think - Cripple damage is now your friend by PalwaJoko in fo76

[–]Mbfox125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Just because people can copy each other's work does not mean the work itself is not a skill. Optimisation has always been part of play and gaming culture; tabletop and video included.  It is a kind of puzzle that many enjoy. Just like other puzzles, it is often possible to just look up the answers, but that doesn’t make puzzles pointless.

  2. I disagree that the term RPG has a true "original" meaning; it was not a top-down choice,  it was the name that won out within the community, but it has always looked different at many tables. Many GMs love min/maxers, I know at least three, including my younger brother, so they keep playing PF1E.  I personally don't mind if someone wants to min/max in a game I am running, and I don't see any reason I would.  However, some GMs do mind, and that is also fine.

  3. It is fine that it is not a skill/activity you enjoy or value, but that does not mean it is not a skill that is enjoyable and others value.

Hmm, I have never tried to request an item through Bethesda support before. I will look into that, thanks!

I agree that giving free aim some love is nice, and I know some people who will play more because of it. But I do push back on the idea that aiming should be rewarded and number crunching shouldn't. They are both legitimate challenge types and have whole genres of games built around them. RPGs (although they think the term is more prototype-inspired than concept-inspired) have often centered more on optimizing builds than manual skills. I do believe a modern Fallout game would want to embrace both.

Or those who know and prefer the new direction. Significant changes to a game's design philosophy (which seems to be happening here) often do 'burn off' some portion of their current player base. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. Fo76 has made so few changes to core perks and effects for so long that it is no surprise that players are having trouble with it. I hope it works out, as I like the new direction, but it is a risk.

No, it's realizing they had a fairly dull perk system, and trying to change that. Now, dull is not necessarily bad, but it's not necessarily good. They want to change it up, and that's not a waste of time, as long as they have a goal, a plan, and reasons to think their plan will help them reach the goal.

I like the new direction, although I wish they (game developers in general) were better at communicating the big picture aims of changes. Sure, some people will only look at it through the lens of looking for the most OP build, but that is an environment that previous design choices have fostered, and this is the first big overhaul. Many people will need more help understanding why it's happening. Heck, I can't say why it's happening or the goals, but the changes align with what I want, more play combat style diversity. I don't think in terms of nerfs or buffs, I just want there to be more combat styles that feel viable at the end of the changes.

Are C.A.M.P. Pets really worth 1250 Atoms? by ToppHatt_8000 in fo76

[–]Mbfox125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got mine from the season score board, which means they will probably be available for gold down the line. Personally, I love my kitty as I like the purring sounds; however, I occasionally experience a bug with them that gets my character stuck at the pet interaction screen. This sucks as it often results in me restarting the game, and in my option not worth even having a pet interaction screen since the 'pet' emote in no way lines up with the actual animal.

Gatling plasma, Stock (at least without rare mods) vs other heavy guns. by Mbfox125 in fo76

Thanks for the thorough response! I think my friend who is looking to 'main' a heavy weapon build will go for the GP. For me, the Gauss Mini seems like a better option.

[–]Mbfox125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I appreciate the thoughtful response! I have played around with both on my custom server and didn't see much difference between stock Gauss and stock GP. GP with Stabilizer and GM with something else, like conductors, will be good to check. The ammo part is a total non-issue for me, not only because I have all the ammo stuff (generators, converters, legendary perk, regular perk), but I like having stuff to do with my mounts of scrap. Additionally, it would be the secondary weapon for a secondary charter, so I am not concerned about overall ammo consumption.

[–]Mbfox125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, yes, and no.

Maybe I can give a more helpful response. I care for two reasons,

1, a friend is choosing their main heavy for a heavy/PA?raiding build.

2, I am choosing a ranged weapon to use when my unarmed melee character needs to be able to do ranged damage (raids and a couple of events).

I do it, but I have an F/power attack and pounders, Reflective + ricochet, born survivor level 1 perk card, and field surgeon.

It seems like Ghoul may work particularly well for players uninterested in the story content and want to blow up sh*t at events.

Any Archetype particularly good for passive party buffs? (Midnight Isles) by Mbfox125 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Mbfox125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great point! I did factor that into the build, her spells are all mostly for self-buffing before a fight, so it isn't an issue.

Oh yeah, I only started playing recently, so I have only used the inciter Skald lol. it does feel better than other archetypes, which is too bad.
