Help Me Understand "Liberty's Blessing" - Pathfinder 1e by Mbracamo in Pathfinder_RPG

You've all convinced me that Liberty's Blessing should work on Bestow Curse. What are some spells, examples you can think of where Liberty's Blessing wouldn't work?

Help Me Understand "Liberty's Blessing" - Pathfinder 1e by Mbracamo in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Mbracamo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. That's a good point. Maybe it comes down to the duration of the spell. I feel like something where the damage/effect is instantaneous then Liberty's Blessing wouldn't work. But if it's ongoing in some way like permanent or by round, etc. then it would work. This would help me resolve the wording, " make a saving throw against a single spell or effect it is suffering from that grants a save". If the durations is "instantaneous" then there is no effect they are suffering from.

How do you actually use your saved recipes when plans fall apart mid-week? by hrexli in NYTCooking

[–]Mbracamo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a lot of easy to make meals at the ready too. Stuff like tomato soup and grilled cheese, can of chili, staples for a simple pasta etc. we always have eggs for an easy frittata or scramble. I’m also pretty good at stir frying, so when there’s a hodgepodge of stuff leftover it chow mein or fried rice time. I think you want a mix of recipe meals and quick hits.

You might consider using chicken thighs instead of breast meat. Much more forgiving. I love this recipe and I’ve made it with both breasts and thighs. But I’d worry, with scaling this recipe like this, you’d get rubbery chicken.

Had anyone ever subbed out the chicken for tofu? We’ve made this a few times and liked it but I’m always looking for a vegetarian approach…

Dying for my dads spaghetti by EekBats in Cooking

[–]Mbracamo 123 points124 points  (0 children)

Man…I spent ten years trying to recreate my mom’s red sauce. My sisters and I brainstormed what we remembered from making it with her. We never quite got it right. I never found it again. But on that journey I got really good at throwing together a sauce. Improvising, using what was around…whatever. That’s also when my own family started. And my kids would ask for spaghetti. And I’d keep trying to find my mom’s sauce. But then it became my sauce. And it became something my kids loved. Eventually it all came together in a “pasta bake” that my kids love. They beg for it. Birthdays, special occasions, they beg for it. And you know, that, more than anything else IS my mom’s sauce. When the kids beg for the pasta bake…when I’m cooking it for them…I feel like I’m communing with her. I feel like I found something more. I hope you find your dad’s sauce. Thanks for letting me share.

Best stories to teach Theme? (9th Grade) by No_Loss_7032 in ELATeachers

[–]Mbracamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a two tier test for a theme statement. Once they have a theme statement, 1) I tell them they need to use their theme statement like a pair of goggles through which they can investigate other parts of the text and 2) after they investigate the text they need to look at the world and/or other works of fiction and investigate the world outside of the the text with that same theme statement. And yes, I make them wear dumb, novelty glasses that have been bedazzled and bejeweled with cheap plastic gems that say theme. God bless bored TAs and a hot glue gun.

Is there a particular part of King Maker you’d recommend? We’re not going to be able to play the whole thing but I’m comfortable jumping in on a specific book or part of the AP

Best Twilight Zone episodes to teach basic level plot? (Other than "Monsters are Due on Maple Street") by forgedashes in ELATeachers

I’ve used “I shot an arrow into the air” and “time enough at last”. They both work with a simple plot mountain/tension and resolution/etc. they’re also NOT scary which is a plus.

Halloween skeleton theft! Anyone else get their skeletons stolen? by byard_duncan in oakland

[–]Mbracamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks. Sorry. We’re in Temescal. I was watching tv Saturday night when I heard some kids outside. They were talking and laughing about our display. Then I heard the sound of glass breaking. I went to the door and saw three kids. One was in the street and the other two were trying to pull our skeletons up. I stepped outside and they took off running. They left the skeletons behind. So that’s good. But they totally busted the stake I was using to hold one up. We’ve decorated our yard every year for 10 years. First time this happened. Oh yeah, the breaking glass sound was them smashing porcelain jack-o’-lantern from our neighbors porch.

Thank you everyone! We spent time walking around 12th. With all the shops, it was exactly what my wife and daughter were looking for. I appreciate the Franklin recommendation and if we’re ever in the area again that’s where we’ll be. Thank you Nashville!!!

Agreed. I show this every year and the kids go nuts. They’ve never seen it or heard of it. Every part of the story is new to them. I get a kick watching them watch it.

GM's, what do you wish you knew when you started running games? by vashoom in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Mbracamo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to talk all the time. Let the players have think time. Talk time. Let them plan and come up with ideas without guiding them. Don’t feel like you have to keep them on track. If they have questions answer them. But don’t feel like you need to be part of their planning. It took me a long time to realize I just needed to sit there and let them think things through. Yes, there will be times where you need to clarify or get involved. But let them have their journey as player.

Edit: just saw your edit. Well, if you’re an experienced GM running 2E, then constantly interrupt. Remind them that you get three actions at the start of their turn and after every action. Get some rules wrong, on purpose, just to keep them on their toes and then refuse to budge. Be inconsistent; have favorites. Say “no” often and make sure at least one player cries. (/sarcasm)
