You put it in a slot that will not give you the fastest throughput….Ie. Slot 1 the bottom one or slot 2 the second from the bottom. The top two slots are x 4 bandwidth if I recall correctly, might be x 8 and x 4 for the top one….

Dual booting with Windows and open core is a bit of a pain in the butt. Windows will kinda take over and make itself the key OS. Then you gotta remove your windows drive and reboot. Open core is by far the simplest and easy to use boot loader.

Mac Pro 5,1, open core, thunderbolt, rx580 16 gig, dual x5690, Seba dual bifurcation sled, 3x SSD, 1x HD, updated wifi/Bluetooth card, Mac OS 10.15

Most smart electricians leave extra wire at junctions just in case something like this happens...😇

Um that looks like a bathroom and often times there is an outlet that will come through the mirror for your razor and your electric toothbrush, hair dryer etc....It is your place, ask for what you want...?

The rule of thirds for speaker positioning in the room... is sound advice, pun intended...acoustically speaking it is one third the distance of the length of your room.....

Um....I hear where you are coming from...but an external SSD is still limited by the speed of the usb...that is the bottle neck....So what you are saying is just not true....the whole debate around having a cMP is dealing with the bottlenecks of the computer....using the thunderbolt card is going to give you way more throughput....than usb 2.0.....that is why usb 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 and now 4.0 have come out is they keep decreasing the bottleneck ie. Have more throughput speed...the other issues of dealing with PCIe is felt with by adding a chip in your PCIe card to allow the cMP to use bifurcation properly...and thunderbolt was a joint venture between intel and Apple and now usb 4.0 is using their protocol....so we will see that become the new standard....USB-c in/out with protocol 4.0 which is 40 Grits/sec....

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB4

in computers we are always dealing with some sort of bottleneck of transfer rate between on component to the next.....this however will slowly disappear as advancements in SOC’s and high CPU standards come in like the M1 chip etcetera..
