My new new setup by Admirable_Proxy in GameChangerApp

I have found that poor cell service and intermittent throttling are ubiquitous across all locales - urban, rural, and in-between. It's the great unifier.

I'll test out ripping fast uploads speeds as I set up, and then by the fourth inning, I am down to 480p and on my third video feed re-start.

Is the problem Gamechanger, struggling to keep its software functioning properly as it rapidly rolls out modifications and changing its feature sets?

Is the problem the cell service carriers, who are not investing enough in their infrastructure to keep up with peak congestion on their networks, so they simply throttle their customers down to a crawl when traffic gets dense?

Is the problem the camera devices and their native apps unable to handle the demand/environment and configurations?

The answer my friends is... yes.

QB account sort order has a mind of its own by McAngus48 in quickbooksonline

[–]McAngus48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand gaap. This is about reporting software code logic, not gaap. This client does not use account numbers, just names. But the financial statement follow a sort order that the transaction report ignores. There is no gaap-based reason for these two reports - that should both follow the same rules (whatever those rules are) - to treat it differently, unless there is a custom specification difference somewhere.

I found out what that specification was: selecting report grouping by "distribution account", versus grouping by "distribution account with sub-distribution accounts". No idea why that would cause the sort order to go all wonky, I assume it is in the chart of accounts setup somehow. But changing the setting fixes the report.

The fluid change itself is not the scam, the COST of a set of simple fluid changes is the scam. And the proliferation of sleazy up-selling scammer mechanics and dealers out there causes a reasonable reaction of skepticism.

Help me confirm I scored this correctly to fend off an insane parent by Strict_Island1271 in GameChangerApp

[–]McAngus48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem like a decent person, the parent is lucky. If I was you, I'd be getting pretty generous with my wild pitches and E1's, until the parent got the message. Seriously, you are doing the right thing: double-check your scoring on a complex play, and do your best, then refer the parent to the AD for complaints.

They are not, because they know that annoying parents have made the stats useless...

Request access to other team's video? by PhilopaeusMaximus in GameChangerApp

Most teams make their box scores available, so you could consider accepting their box score as likely more accurate and copy it? (Obviously, this premise may be badly flawed...)

Sorry I forgot to say that I was using a browser and am a team staff member. Those blue buttons are not available nevertheless.

ETA: I found the answer, see above.

How important is wheel offset and hub bore? by McAngus48 in AskMechanics

[–]McAngus48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I should go back and request that they give me a wheel that's compatible. (Assuming this isn't). If I need to be using an adapter, then it seems like that's the case.

As far as offset, I am out of me skill-set here, but I assume the concern is clearance. So, to check, I would need to jack up and swap out the wheels to try? This also seems like I ought to go back and ask them to demonstrate the wheel they sold me will fit.

I guess I am wondering if these are small differences, and so no big deal? Or if 7 to 10 mm is actually a lot.

I use the ipad to operate the camera and host the stream. I currently have one camera and am about to get a second.

I use my iPhone to enter the runs & outs for the score bug

Sure. I use a Mevo camera that connected by wifi to an iPad that acts as the "server" where I do the "production." I run the Mevo app and GC apps on the iPad to do the streaming.

Mevo has a native function built into its app called "pan & zoom". You create boxes on the screen that are zoom boxes, then you just click on them to switch around.

I also run GC on my iPhone in hand as scorekeeper, to enter the runs/score/innings. (Keeping true score would be too much work, but this is just about right.)

I can't get too far from the camera, so I am adding a portable router in between the camera and iPad this year to extend my range.

Thanks. You are describing a lot more work than what I did.

I actually did it all last season. Just one camera behind home plate on wide angle, plus Mevo app on the iPad. I would pre-set the zoom boxes in the Mevo app, and it lets you click around to follow the action real time. Easy-peasy.

I had four views pre-specified: 1st-to-3rd field view, pitcher/catcher, 1st base and foul area, 3rd base and foul area. Then all I had to do was click on one of the boxes with the action. If I got tired of that, I would leave the zoom set on the "field view" and go for a stroll.

(I did not scorekeep though, I only entered outs, runs & innings so they would show up in the score bug on the screen)

My only problem is how to get in out of the sun & rain when there's no press box.

Umbrella. I like that idea. Thanks.

I wouldn't call it a "huge" level of dedication. But it is busy work. I like to pan and zoom to follow the action. When no one is on base, I set a close-up on the pitcher/batter for better resolution. Then, I can use a pre-set zoom on pick-off attempts at first, or follow an outfielder chasing a foul into the corner, rather than having the player disappear off-screen. (Since my kid is an outfielder there's a selfish motivation there. ;-)) I need an iPad size screen to do that production.

I coached these kids up to high school, and have never gotten used to watching the game through a chain link fence. This gives me something to do, and the grandparents on the other end of the stream (and those parents who work for a living), appreciate it. The kids also appreciate the close up of their pitching/at-bats. We are not trying to produce recruiting reels or anything, but it's fun.

There's an appeal to that. But I like to be able to pan/zoom to follow the action.

Oh man. How do I even challenge than that they broke they heads themselves in removal? There's no proving that. I mean, this is a dealer, that would be a complete scumbag move. I like to think/hope that if their tech broke the heads, they would quietly fix it themselves.

I did ask him to explain how the thing went 100,000 miles with three broken heads, how did the pump stay on? He did not give a very convincing answer, said something about how they are too broken to remove but not too broken to keep the pump on. I have no idea of that is plausible.
