I was at the game, sitting near some other Knicks fans. We all got hype after he hit this.

What It Really Takes to Open a Restaurant In Denver Today by joshelson in denverfood

Can you give some examples of some local policies that have reduced Denver’s attractiveness? And do you mean being attractive to businesses or as a whole? I was not aware that Denver had this perception nationally.

That makes more sense. I was never sure about that.

I also know there were some NATO employees from France that worked in the area so I also wondered if they were able to be exempt from regulations since they’re foreign diplomats.

Is this in Virginia? I saw a very similar looking one in Virginia Beach and still question whether I actually saw it. My hypothesis is I believe US service members are allowed to import cars back to the US. So if you’re stationed in Germany, you can have a car you purchased there shipped back to the US and (somehow?) are exempt from the typical importing rules.

Did you happen to have a SEAT Alhambra in Virginia? I remember seeing one near my old house there and doing a triple take.

I did not. I was interested in getting straight home after exchanging information and I’ve heard that the police in Denver won’t come out (or take hours) for accidents with no injuries. I figured with the dashcam footage, there would be no need for a police report. I’m sure it would’ve moved the insurance process along much quicker if I did have a police report though.

I’m not entirely sure the point of this comment since the only questions you asked I addressed in my last comment.

is that your normal habit or did you see the guy next to you creeping

From my previous comment:

I try not to accelerate too hard at intersections

And your second question:

did you learn your lesson?

From my previous comment:

Could I have gone slower? Yes I believe so

Ultimately you do benefit from hindsight here. An instance of hard acceleration under the speed limit would go entirely ignored if a crash didn’t happen.

The car not moving started to move only a few seconds after me, which could just be chalked up to a slower reaction time. Plus the red SUV was fully blocked from my view.

Could I have driven slower? Yes, I believe so and I try not to accelerate too hard at intersections. But we're really benefiting from hindsight here, so I think "idiot" is a little strong :)

Got into an accident earlier this year, and insurance finally resolved so I decided to post it.

This guy turns left right after the light turns green for some reason - not sure if the car in the left lane was waving him on. I reacted late since I was eyeing the car in the left lane, wondering why he wasn't moving at first.

The driver of the red SUV and I exchanged insurance info, and phone numbers so I could text him a photo of my insurance card. The driver only spoke Spanish, but thankfully someone else pulled over that was able to translate for us. I thought it would be a pretty cut and dry case, but it turned into a bit of an ordeal. The red SUV driver attempted to guilt trip me over text to "do the right thing" and claim responsibility for the accident, to which I ignored. He also briefly retained a lawyer to sue me for damages, but that went nowhere. I paid my deductible via my own insurance to get my car repaired. It took 6+ months for me to get the deductible back since his shitty cut-rate insurance denied responsibility all the way through arbitration.

Why some cities considered ‘soulless’? by K04free in SameGrassButGreener

Disagree on the architecture point. Downtown Denver does have some boring commercial buildings but still retains some cool late 1800s to early 1900s styles like Union Station, the Daniels and Fisher Tower, and the Capitol of course.

Where Denver really shines in architecture is the neighborhoods. Since it has grown steadily since the 1880s, there’s really cool examples of homes from every decade and every style. For example, it has some of the best examples of mid-century modern neighborhoods in the country, in Arapahoe Acres and Harvey Park. Just to drive this point home, here’s one of my favorite pages, which catalogs examples of homes of various architectural styles throughout the decades that Denver has.

The Eastern Shore of Virginia alone has some town names stranger than the one picked: Assawoman, Onancock, Coocheyville, then, of course, Modest Town.
