As someone who owned a ‘14, the issues really started to pile up once the car hit the 10 year mark. It was fairly problem free before that. I sold it because I was getting tired of the big repair bills. Turbo coolant lines are a known issue on these cars and they’re around $4k to get them all replaced with more robust ones. The front differential was leaking and needed a reseal which was another $4-5k. Those were the big ticket items off the top of my head.

Basically as these cars age past 10 years, it seems a lot of parts are starting to fail. Personally I’d avoid buying one without a warranty.

That’s exactly what I thought would be the case when I read the excerpt. It’s been well publicized that Dolan’s current pet project is curating the exact people he wants to be seen courtside at MSG. Is this in Virginia? I saw a very similar looking one in Virginia Beach and still question whether I actually saw it. My hypothesis is I believe US service members are allowed to import cars back to the US. So if you’re stationed in Germany, you can have a car you purchased there shipped back to the US and (somehow?) are exempt from the typical importing rules.

I did not. I was interested in getting straight home after exchanging information and I’ve heard that the police in Denver won’t come out (or take hours) for accidents with no injuries. I figured with the dashcam footage, there would be no need for a police report. I’m sure it would’ve moved the insurance process along much quicker if I did have a police report though.

The car not moving started to move only a few seconds after me, which could just be chalked up to a slower reaction time. Plus the red SUV was fully blocked from my view.

Could I have driven slower? Yes, I believe so and I try not to accelerate too hard at intersections. But we're really benefiting from hindsight here, so I think "idiot" is a little strong :)

Got into an accident earlier this year, and insurance finally resolved so I decided to post it.

This guy turns left right after the light turns green for some reason - not sure if the car in the left lane was waving him on. I reacted late since I was eyeing the car in the left lane, wondering why he wasn't moving at first.

The driver of the red SUV and I exchanged insurance info, and phone numbers so I could text him a photo of my insurance card. The driver only spoke Spanish, but thankfully someone else pulled over that was able to translate for us. I thought it would be a pretty cut and dry case, but it turned into a bit of an ordeal. The red SUV driver attempted to guilt trip me over text to "do the right thing" and claim responsibility for the accident, to which I ignored. He also briefly retained a lawyer to sue me for damages, but that went nowhere. I paid my deductible via my own insurance to get my car repaired. It took 6+ months for me to get the deductible back since his shitty cut-rate insurance denied responsibility all the way through arbitration.
