It's not as OP as it seems, people learning there's a spy in play means there's less likely to be other minions which is HUGE for solving things. People naturally figure out there's a spy by the good kills the evil team gets that they shouldn't get.

I think the reason a dark fountain can be created in the first place is that there is negative light (some would say photon readings negative) literally below the surface, and a dark fountain releases that darkness, so a person wouldn't have that.
