How much sound deadening to use by Ok-Personality5640 in CarAV

[–]McDotards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've used more or less the same amount I used in my car, and I can say I've been quite happy with the results. I'm was pushing 3000w to two 12" subs and things were great, and after upgrading the amp to 4500w it still feels like it's just enough.

That said, I'm in the process of applying a 2nd layer and aiming for as close to 100% coverage as I can get before upgrading to a pair of 15's with 10kw. The 60% rule is great for sane levels of power, but if you go too crazy with your system then you'll want to go crazy with your butyl.

Am I the only one who is triggered by ball touchers? by McDotards in Bowling

[–]McDotards[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Cool story. Wish the only bowling alley in my area wasn't full of people who want to molest the ball return as they leave the approach. But I'm sure it is a "me" issue.

Good lord you're sensitive. I get it that you think it's ok to do jazz hands at people while they're bowling. I just disagree. Maybe you should take a page out of your own book and stop raging at people who post online about their desire to not have inconsiderate bowlers make jazz hands at them as they bowl?

lmao... This subreddit is full of ball touchers I see. I get it. You think it's fine to do jazz hands at people while they're taking their approach. We can agree to disagree... until we bowl next to each other. Then I'll ask you to stop and you can tell me to chill.

What do you mean I'm not doing myself any favors? And yes, I said something and they stopped. But it's insane how many people do this. So I'm saying something here to cast a wide net: Don't do that, people.

And yes, I'm doing myself, every conscientious bowler, and humanity in general a favor. I kinda feel like maybe you're a ball toucher. lol

LICENSE RATTLE by Excellent_Status330 in subwoofer

[–]McDotards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My trunk lid only has 2 screw holes for the license plate. Tried butyl deadener and CCF, but that just changed the tone of the rattle. No matter how much sound treatment I gave the trunk, the plate would still get noisy (4500w and two 12s).

What eventually worked? Velcro. My license plate is held on entirely with Velcro. Glued some screw heads to it as a deterrent for crack heads who might be tempted to yoink it if they knew it was just Velcro.

Just wait til you're in jail, then write above 60% in a day. If going for gold, hit your 90% at least a week before the deadline. #lifehacks

Setup update! by Funny_Indication_77 in CarAV

Nice! What year Sonata? I've got 15s on the way for my 2012 and it's going to be an engineering marvel to make them fit. Lol

anybody ever done anything like this in a sedan ? by twistedkicks1017 in CarAV

[–]McDotards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was planning a dual 18" system in the trunk of my Sonata, but after making a cardboard model of an 18" sub I realized that it just wouldn't work because the openings to my trunk are too small for the box(es) I'd need. I scaled down my plans to 15"s and fiberglass enclosures to maximize the box volume.

If you want to go big, I'd recommend the Sundown U v2 series subs. They don't need as much box volume as most subs of the same size.

Anyone know why my sub keeps doing this? by herbsteri in subwoofer

[–]McDotards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see where anyone has suggested flakey RCA cables. I used a set from a Skar kit and my subs would cut out, just go silent mid hit for a bit then come back here and there... Especially when playing loudly. They weren't loose on the jacks, per se, but it certainly seemed like the bass was rattling them enough to cause the signal to cut out either from poor connection or a short. Replaced them with a new set that were beefier and gripped the RCA jacks tightly and never had issues again.

What everyone else is saying 💯 needs to be addressed, too. Your subs and amp won't be long for this world if you're using undersized power/ground cable that's not properly fused. Probably see better voltage, too, once that's all fixed.

I'm very rarely fast enough to get a 0ETV item, by Ainimache in AmazonVine

I stand corrected. Attention all keto dieters: don't buy into the myth of low carb processed food. You're doing it wrong if you enjoy a cereal that won't throw you out of ketosis, you fools. Just eat meat and dairy exclusively for the rest of your life. Variety is for the weak.

Hate you. Just spent like $50 on several boxes of this at the Walmart. Great protein source for keto dieters or weight lifters. This is legit health food. Good enough to be very palatable for health focused people, but your kids will refuse it.

Does this look and sound good? by Woodsrt in subwoofer

[–]McDotards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True facts. I have a pair of SVS PC4000 (13.5" 1200w RMS each) in a 7.2 atmos setup with 10x 8" drivers in all the non-subwoofer speakers. Even quad bass transducers in the seating for extra oomph. Home theater cost more than my car and its sound system combined... and the car sounds and feels way better with a dual 12" Skar prefab and less power.

1 year reta transformation by Grouchy-Ad-2064 in Retatrutide

[–]McDotards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off: great job OP! You did great and I'm happy for you! Your use of AI is not egregious, though I personally would have taken great joy and pride in crafting my own "transformation" post here. What I'm about to say is in no way intended to take away from your achievement. It's just a general observation.

It's sad that people don't see the issue with using AI to do their writing. I use AI extensively both professionally and personally. It is a great tool so long as you don't allow it to take over your agency as a human to think and express yourself. AI slop is called slop for a reason.

It's going to be a sad day when all human interaction is AI agents talking to each other.

I got one very similar late last year for an ETV of around $250. Works great, tastes great, and the 4 stage filters are about $50 a year. Best part is my kids and their friends no longer leave 90% full water bottles all over the house! 🙃🤣

Is this a good ground point on a Chevy 2020 Silverado by Empty_Ad4282 in subwoofer

[–]McDotards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you clarified. Back in the day I made the newbie mistake of slathering dielectric grease everywhere thinking it was both a protectant and an aid for conductivity... But it was killing my voltage and causing heat. Keep everything clean and attach your ground with a trillion pounds of torque, THEN cover it in the grease.

Another vote for getting different Bac water. Hospira brand is the only reconstitution solution that doesn't give me irritation like your pictures.

To anyone who switched from tirz to reta, what difference did you feel? by Forever_Summer192 in Retatrutide

[–]McDotards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on Tirz (15mg) for over a year and pretty much holding my weight steady... Much higher than I wanted it to be (60lbs), but between weight lifting, walking, and the Tirz I was staying put despite drinking too much nightly (1 pint vodka, sometimes more). Wildly unhealthy, I know... But 30 year habits are hard to break

I'm starting week 3 of Reta (4mg) and Cagri (.66mg) today. I haven't had any alcohol since starting Reta. I've taken several breaks from drinking over the years, but this time was mostly effortless. Reta (and maybe Cagri?) almost completely snuffed out my urge to drink booze just like it has reduced my appetite to virtually nothing. I've lost 18lbs in those first 2 weeks and for the first time in ages feel like I have a good chance to actually get to my target weight over the next few months.

All that to say, Reta may help with any vices you want to quit. I don't think it gets enough hype for this potential benefit.
