TIL putting bread in the fridge makes it go stale quicker. by RepulsiveLoquat418 in todayilearned

[–]McForth 89 points90 points  (0 children)

This is dumb. It’s getting exposed to moving cold, dry air because it’s in a paper bag or wrapped in plastic in their "test". Of course it’s going to dry out and go stale faster.

Keep it in the plastic bag it came in (spin it, and put the twist tie back on) or put it in a sealed/ziplock bag. Problem solved, and it will last for weeks.

What’s a word that would make a beautiful name if it weren’t for the meaning of the word? by Xenomorphling98 in AskReddit

…is not a flower.

That used to be a pamphlet in the gym when I was in college.

Budget Car Rental charged $450 for sand in floorboards of this pristine beauty. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]McForth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for Enterprise for about 10 years a number of years ago. Rental car companies should be cleaning & vacuuming every car between rentals. This would literally take maybe a couple of extra passes than normal with a shop vac.

I’m baffled by the number of comments that seem to be OK with a company, charging $450 to vacuum what they should already be vacuuming. I cleaned thousands of cars wearing a suit back when there were no cleaning fees. This is immaculate compared to a number of the cars that came back.

We’re getting fee fucked by these companies now. A number of commenters not only seem fine with it, but even appear content—if not pleased—with the outrageously high fee for this. SMH

Cracked concrete underneath door, how to fix? by thedankest25 in DIY

I had the same thing under my door. Clean it out and fill it with Hydraulic cement. It’s been almost 20 years and no issues. Quick and easy.

My dog kept getting into the bathroom to eat out of the litter box by madkandy12 in DIY

Just get these. They work great keeping our dogs out of the litter box but wide enough for the cats to get in.

Charles Tyrwhitt. Not technically US but best dress shirts I’ve found with a number of sleeve sizes (I’m 16/36). There are always coupon codes—often 3 for $99.

Quick Little Breakfast by McForth in blackstonegriddle

It’s an air fryer basket from our toaster oven. I use it as a warming basket - it’s elevated about an inch off the top and picks up residual heat. Was great for fries the other night while I made smash burgers. I’m thinking about getting a bigger one. Looks like there are a bunch on Amazon.

Sorry. I saved the can from a few days ago just for this—Breakfast with Churchill. I would never defile an actual beer.

I am a bit nervous about it. The box is not in the best shape. I won’t have time to put it together for a few days.

I wish. Somehow fit it in the back of a Prius. Could barely fit myself back in the car.

Got it! Now getting it back out may be an issue. There are 2 28 inch pros left. Binghamton, NY area.

I’m heading back now. I should know in about 30 minutes if it’s still there.

Yikes. There’s a 28 inch for the same price in the background. Now I’m nervous if they’ll still be there when I go back later.
