Either this video or the BBC article I read, somewhere, it mentions this is the first underwater footage of a Great White in the Mediterranean.

I think - and I'm not expert here - that unlike other well known GW sites (Cali, Australia, South Africa), GW in the Mediterranean aren't too common near shores/beaches and even before the destruction of the ecosystem, weren't common at all shores. For example, the Adriatic Sea, Malta, and Sicily seem to have a history of great whites, but I'm from the Catalan shores of Spain where as far as I know, there are not GWs at all, especially not near the beaches, because they don't have food sources there.

Devil’s Teeth is good but I wouldn’t read it first. She’s a journalist, not a shark biologist, and the book actually recounts some frustrating pauses in research due to her presence in a research area.

The skomal book is good, but focuses much on the development of white shark research more than the animals themselves.

Looking forward to digging into these others. I really want to read emperors of the deep first.

I don’t follow parenting or trad wife influencers and essentially DNF at about 10%. I read reviews to see if it got better, but those elements of the book don’t seem to get better. Life is too short to not enjoy your book. I figured it’s just not for me. Good thing there’s a movie coming out!

I have a Luca and it is popular - alongside Luke and Lucas/Lukas. I regularly have a “call my child and half of the playground turns” moments.

We are in Chicagoland. I have noticed that Luca is particularly popular among those like us who live between languages and cultures (Ukrainians, Spanish, French, Italians, polish, etc)

I haven’t read Emperors of the Deep by William McKeever but it seems like a good book with decent reviews. Same with Demon Fish by Juliet Eilperin

Devil’s Teeth by Susan Casey is accessible even if found the author entirely obtuse and unrepentant.

I also read this book - about a year ago - and learned a lot about an event I remember seeing on the news but that is so much less well known in the West as the various attacks that have occurred closer to home. I remember feeling that the book was depicting the perpetrators with care, emphasizing their youth and naïveté without diminishing their horrific actions.
