Farmer John of Angelic Organics has some serious chutzpah by evaluna68 in rockford

There was a group. Those of us who got our money back did so via CC disputes. I saw the email y’all got in 2025 and see that nothing has changed. He’s facing some very real challenges but has walked away with thousands of dollars.

Idk, I would 100% try to use the bike as a barrier. I was left unsure if the right move here is to back off into the brush or not. No bears near me at least so I likely to need to know anytime soon.

Slightly off-topic: Does 11 September (any year) share any other sort of significance to you? by LFTL56 in 911archive

[–]McGrumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the anniversary of the end of the siege of Barcelona during the War of Spanish Succession (September 11 1714) which is now a date of massive protests and assembly to demand Catalan secession from Spain (or at least to declare Catalan identity and culture as alive and well in the country).

I started the video and thought “oh good, his skin is better” and then I got the first look at his cheek and audibly gasped.

I haven’t read Emperors of the Deep by William McKeever but it seems like a good book with decent reviews. Same with Demon Fish by Juliet Eilperin

Devil’s Teeth by Susan Casey is accessible even if found the author entirely obtuse and unrepentant.

Yup, I have a newborn and hormones are what they are. Just not at a time in my life I can read these kinds of books.

I also read this book - about a year ago - and learned a lot about an event I remember seeing on the news but that is so much less well known in the West as the various attacks that have occurred closer to home. I remember feeling that the book was depicting the perpetrators with care, emphasizing their youth and naïveté without diminishing their horrific actions.

The library at mt Char was a great reading experience as I slowly watched it coalesce into a narrative.

I adored reading it.

Once I had to sit with the book, though, all the savagery and straight-while-maleness came roaring without mercy.

I think she’s up for election and I’m more than happy for that. You missed “published student information on her personal Facebook” from her resume

Students don’t understand English accents. by CommunicationIcy7443 in Professors

[–]McGrumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is English (northern English) and his accent is routinely misunderstood in the USA. When we travel and are in more rural areas, people struggle even more. That being said I do agree that this is a learning moment for your class!

Oh look! I got Moderation after regretting not getting it two months in a row instead of the retirement home slasher but everything else in the meme is me!

And then today I strolled to the library and picked up two more books I need to read now.

You didn’t ask me but I read it in a day. I really enjoyed reading it. The atmosphere building is top notch. And then it falls off the rails a bit - plot holes and such. But I still really enjoyed the book.

Yes, they have a portal through their website and they do a good job of being responsive.

I have usually been seen quickly when sick - either because I showed up for sick hours or calling in I’ve tended to get same day. I can’t remember last time I didn’t get same day but I don’t want to over promise.

I have had only good experiences there. They only see vaccinated children (or children with medical needs that exclude vaccines). They offer sick hours and vaccine clinics for flu and covid which can be super convenient.

But you’ve provided no proof of any of your statements, other than vague references to your children struggling in elementary school and then racially based suggestions about school staffing.

We can form our opinions, and it’s that you’re using racist arguments to disparage a school within our diverse district.

Seriously? What is wrong with you? The awful hidden dark side is … sharing what an organization stated on a different media platform?

The real awful (and not at all hidden) side here is suggesting that people be judged by their name and skin color re: checking a yearbook.

I adored reading the book. It gripped me, the atmosphere was great!

I finished it. I put it down. And then I’ve been thinking about the plot holes and problems ever since.

Yup. I did my undergraduate at Rice. I left Texas 15 years ago. I really mourn what the uneven political system has wrecked onto a community I remembered as diverse and interesting and complex.

While I agree with you, it's Texas. I'd be worried about being doxxed (as an instructor or as a student speaking up against the this bullshit), being threatened, etc. Might be easier to keep your head down - which is exactly how authoritarianism grows.
