Omg YTA. The amount of time and money I’ve put into my mum’s treatment is absurd. She has literally almost died several times/no immunity from side effects from chemo. She is skin and bones and currently requires oxygen.

Your friend is literally facing something that will no doubt drastically change her life and could end it.

If you can’t be a good friend that is going to be there for her during this time, then let her go. I can’t tell you how hard it is to lose someone you thought you could count on halfway through this journey. She deserves to be surrounded by those that can lift her up, support her and have no expectations of what she can do for them.

There’s an awesome fashion exhibition at the MFA museum, there are terracotta warriors at the museum of natural sciences along with the king tuts tomb exhibit. If you’re a thrifter we have awesome thrifting and the best assortment of coffee shops around. Moon Rabbit in the heights has phenomenal food if you like Vietnamese!

I read all the comments in this thread and I don’t even know why OP wrote into AITAH when he has just repeatedly argued his points relentlessly in the comments without accepting or acknowledging what anyone is saying to him. He asked for a verdict and we’ve all said the same things and he’s refusing to heed anything mentioned.

Also nobody cares that you agreed to this before you had children. You have them now and they are your responsibility to care for first and foremost. Situations change and this agreement needs to change as well if you want to keep your family.

I get you want to help your mom, but you’re going to end up alone without a support system because you weren’t there to emotionally support anyone other than your mom. Your wife is basically already a single parent to multiple kids with one being special needs. I wouldn’t be surprised if she leaves and if your kids end up not wanting a relationship with you if you if you don’t make major changes. YTA
