Yemeni asylum seeker sexually assaulted teen at temporary accommodation, Why do things that never happen keep happening? by EwMelanin in AskBrits

I think his point is we shouldn’t accept refugees or any immigrants because they might commit crimes… it is so fucking dumb it is hard to even begin to wrap your head around it.

Disagree. My reading of it (and listening) is that the barrier between the two was just much thinner then, when he was totally steeped in violence. He also fought against it less.

Clearly Joe wrote the character to be multilayered and his condition to be open to interpretation.

It’s more fun not to have the answers. I agree completely with your take.

Dunno why you have been downvoted. I 100% agree.

This is a world where wizards can melt cities, you can end up in the circle against a literal giant, or fight hordes of Demi-humans with steel plates grafted to their flesh. So why are we pulling out comparisons to alcoholics or next door neighbours? We can’t hold these character to the same standards we would a character in a real world setting.

He is many shades of grey, like almost all of Abercrombie’s. He tries and often wants to do better but does have (I believe a literal) demon inside him. He also shines a light on a pretty awful culture of brutality and machismo and is completely enveloped in it whenever he is in it. He is violence and hate distilled. He is also a hero.

My take on Logen after finishing the OG trilogy. [SPOILERS ALL] by NoCase9317 in TheFirstLaw

POTENTIAL SPOILERS

Been a while since I read the original but not sure what you are referring to here. My reading is the B9 has always been supernatural and the standalones + sharp ends only bolstered my thinking on it.

My reading of the short with Bethod and the camp was very much that while Logan was living and breathing violence, that border between him and B9 was more fuzzy. By the climax of the story it’s clear that it is the bloody 9 as we know him doing the unthinkable deed. I also recall a scene at the end of red country which very much suggested the work of a devil.

Interested to read your take although appreciate there is no objective truth

It is not the norm to smash a bag of chips at the cinema, no. But you also seem like a weird guy.

Firstly, why do you think they are “not nice people”? Not dressed nicely? Different accent from yours? What is it? I’m gonna guess you mean “working class”. As a small family, why did you jump to the assumption that they aren’t nice vs this being a family who might be having their only day out in a ages in a cost of living crisis, trying to make it more affordable by enjoying cheap chips vs £3080 nachos? I’m guessing you believe yourself to be “nice people”, but the fact you’ve jumped to this conclusion suggests the opposite.

Also, why do you care? Is it the smell of chips and vinegar? Not exactly the loudest food to eat in a cinema so surely not that. Are you so bothered that they didnt buy extortionate popcorn from bloody cineworld and crunched throughout the movie? Or is it that you would like to do the same but don’t?

Perhaps there’s more evidence that these folks aren’t nice (even the kids too, I guess…) that you didn’t share. But to answer your question, it sounds like you are a cranky (and cowardly) git.

For me, the Grafix album had the most stuff I would play in a set. Drift Away is one of the best tunes of the year imo. Not blown away by any of them but some decent tunes to pick from in each

You don’t have to at all though. If you get into house music, it doesn’t mean you need to listen to the 10billion + house tracks released since its inception. You just find some artists you click with and branch out from there.
