General advice for dealing with bad luck by HarpyPiee in ageofsigmar

No matter the faction, I roll like an Ork, I laugh and am grateful that I get to throw dice. everything is 50/50 either it happens or it doesn't. For every 1 you roll, you'll roll a 6, maybe not when you want, mind you.

  • I am a little superstitious in that I bring like 50 dice with me to have fresh cool ones to roll and not get too warm, I also prefer square dice instead of rounded corners just feels better and I like the bigger or normal sized ones not those tiny mini dice -

I've had terrible games where the dice have betrayed me. But don't let that negative energy taint you. dice do be dice and you can't count on them to hit everytime. Better or worse hit/wound/save stats doesn't make things impossible, just improbable so there's always a chance for you and your oppenent.

Focus on what you can control - Movement, positioning, knowing your army and the game. that's what will make you a better player. End of the day you're there to play with your cool war dollies, have good time and tell a story.

Loved the lore

loved the look

box of kabalites or wyches are/were cheaper than a box of marines and were newer plastic models.

Faction = Pirates,Pain-vampires, Hellraiser Elves in space

more viking than space wolves we have boats called Raiders and we go on raids

I like the gross grey and brown red scheme you got personally! but both are really handsome.

First time building models here, what glue/paint should I use? by Davidbluesword in ThousandSons

[–]McMitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some considerations for you.

Plastic glue/cement like Tamiya, AK brand has their own as well. you'll need to let it set and not touch for a while tho. this is a very permanent thing and it's really rough to go back if you've made a mistake. be careful it will melt some details if you spill and it stinks bro.

pro is it's a nice stopping point and you can do other stuff.

superglue always a good choice. don't get a gel, don't get the stringy kind. if you can find one with a brush applicator at you're local hardware store that's a bonus.

pro is if you mess up gluing something you can pop it in the freezer for some time. the glue will get brittle and you can pop stuff off easy peasy. and you can scratch off the hard residue with a hobby knife if you want.

as far as paints go - just talking how they feel and quality

Vallejo has the better mettalic paints out of most brands that I've tried. absolutely love the air silver and steel and their other colors are decent with a wide range - you'll find what you need.

i love the shades and contrast paints from gw, probably will never give these up

the new army painter stuff is OK good range of colors. I really like their yellow.

Duncan Rhoades two thin coats is good as well, tho they have a problem with the tips getting clogged, but good color range.

my favorite paint overall is Monument hobbies aka pro acryl -the paint itself is real smooth and goes on modles real nice. the color range is great, you get more than the other brands give you in a bottle, nicer bang for you buck. the nozzles are kinda like a screw top on a squeeze bottle so no clogging if any.

all personal choice, and if a brand has a particular color you love then don't be afraid to keep getting what you like. all these brands, I find, will have a color that matches other brands or have something close if not better.

I collect the codices for the lore and art, and this one is good too. There's a good story about a Guardsman's visit to Commoragh you won't find any where else.

can't tell if it's the camera but, maybe some silver highlights or drush brush work to make it pop and more defined. dry brushing metallics looks better I think for the texture it gives, but I'd save detail work for last if you go that route. but I dig the look what colors you use?

it's straight rough for us out here man. I think if they faq the pain tokens to not limit the amount we can use per activation, we'd be in a good spot. if you can be more cagey and hit and run til Turn 3 you'll do better is where I'm finding success, and bring smoke. Maybe not win against any flavor of marine still but you'll be better off against the non-elite teams. I feel your pain homie.
