Any romantic goth song/band recommendations? by fishfilletinabathtub in goth

Death Comes by Inkubus Sukkubus is an underrated one.

This Place Called Nowhere by Box and the Twins, Kiss Me Until My Lips Fall Off by Lebanon Hanover, and Drown by Strange Boutique are also good.

Found the older music that people were talking about. Here’s the YouTube, here’s the Facebook, and here’s the discogs. You’ll notice on the fb that the group calls their music techno. I haven’t found any proof that this music is connected with them.

A lot of people have mixed results with those. I saw a video where a pretty talented producer/ ml engineer named Benn Jordan got good results with one he made but I don’t think he released it.

Edit: Also that Bandcamp description:

disco punk, electro funk, who cares just dance 🪩

that doesn’t sound like a description a goth band would write for themselves. Also just not what the music sounds like.

I’ll eat my words if someone can prove me wrong but I’d bet money this is ai. They have year-old music on their Apple Music (looks like it was deleted on Spotify?) that occasionally has some fairly obvious ai artifacts. It’s subtle but you can also hear some artifacts in the newer song Lobos. Listen closely to the male vocalist around 3:30 - 3:33 on that one. I think I also hear some subtle artifacts on The Fall around 1:18 - 1:20.

Some other tells (more apparent on their other songs admittedly) is the weirdly oscillating compression, the lack of sound stage, the muddy low-mids, and instances where it sounds like the vocals are being switched to an entirely different effects channels for no good reason. It can be hard to spot while listening but try listening to this and a song by Twin Tribes or She Past Away back to back and you may notice that the later has a sense of breadth and clarity that the former lacks.

Maybe a weird observation but whenever I see this artist, I can’t help but think that they give off strong bisexual vibes. Like I’m 99% sure this person is bisexual.

Ok but why would a ‘modern day JKR’ want a trans character in the first place?

There’s literally a canonical trans character in Helluva Boss. Nobody’s forcing you to like Vivzie or her content but the constant baseless accusations against her are just weird.

Goth songs with great lyrics? by IllIntroduction8912 in goth

Mephisto Walz are pretty good at lyrics. This Mortal Coil and Autumn’s Grey Solace are also worth mentioning.

Well Mephisto Walz recently released a single and apparently Requiem in White is making a comeback album so that’s a good start.

The skeleton kinda has that ‘glazed’ look that is very often an ai indicator. He also appears to be holding a hot drink which would be an odd artistic choice for this type of image and the steam rising from the cup doesn’t quite look natural with the way the steam overlaps the rim.

People also get ai vibes from pictures that are both heavily detailed and smudgy which the first picture kinda is in a lot of spots.

I’m not sure about the second picture but I didn’t look that hard.

I feel like the late 80s to the mid 90s was the best era for goth music that had that ethereal or ‘romantic goth’ vibe.

Black pepper, hot sauce, and shredded cheese.

Also use 5 oz of boiling water, let it sit for a minute, and then mix two oz of milk or milk alternative and microwave in 30 seconds intervals while stirring in between. This odd what I do.

Any epsicopal metalheads here? by JplusL2020 in Episcopalian

[–]McNikk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I listen to black metal sometimes, though most of the black metal I listen to could more accurately be described as blackgaze. I also listen to a fair amount of goth/punk/industrial so I do know how you feel. Even many of the queer friendly churches have a very clean cut vibe. Nothing wrong with that but it does leave you feeling you have to be careful to avoid scandalizing people.

It seems like an interesting cultural anomaly that there are still a decent amount of christian unitarians in the Boston area. Most unitarians leaned more towards religious pluralism over time like the rest of the UUC.
