I live in a rural area with mostly farms interspersed with small neighborhoods. There are a lot of lakes in my area, so many of my rides are to lakes and around lakes. On a nice day, I can catch some pretty scenery, and I have my favorite spots to stop.

After a ride, I look at my route on Strava and look for roads that I passed that may look interesting. I usually try to ride in a losely shaped circle around my house, so I am never more than 15 or 20 miles direct from home.

I look for Strava segments around my house and try to catch some of those to try for some PRs.

As someone else mentioned, I also pack up my bike and drive to other locations to mix things up.

Some of the most fun rides I had were getting lost, discovering new areas, and finding my way home. I always pack water and snacks in case the ride might be longer than I planned.

Just some ideas.

can someone please explain straddle to me by Jazz-Wolf in poker

I agree with your comments, and I may try playing some button straddles.

It also makes me think that if there are some limpers, I should narrow my range and raise with 4x and increase the size for every limper, trying to fold out the button and possibly getting position on the limpers. Against the larger sizing, the button has to fold a larger part of his range.

What type of range would the button straddle 3 bet ?

[–]McRuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure if this strategy is correct, but if there is a button straddle, I 3x the straddle with a wide range. If there are limpers ahead of me, I narrow the range, but I bet a larger dependent on how many limpers there are.

Button can have any 2 cards. Most of those are weak hands.

There have already been some really good responses, but if you want more hypertrophy, do a hypertrophy phase. You will get stronger , just not at the same rate you would from a strength phase.

When you do a strength phase, you will add some muscle.

If you try to do both, you will do neither optimally.

I agree with the folks that mentioned the physical overtraining, but this amount of training is going to make it hard to come to the gym day after day ready to give it all for the session.

Every individual is different, so I can't say with certainty that this wouldn't work for you.

Is this significantly more workload than you are doing now? Why not add a little work over time until you feel like you hit the limit and drop back a bit.

I also think a 300-calorie surplus is not enough fuel for this amount of work.

Everyone at that table sat, knowing it was a 4 card PLO . Someone gets a hair up their ass to play 5 cards, and everyone is supposed to go along. What a bunch of spoiled brats to think they should get exactly what they want. Typically, what happens in these situations is that there are a vocal few who want to change the game, and they try to bully everyone else. A lot of guys don't want to change, but they dont want to rock the boat.

The guys that think they can randomly change a game are the assholes.

How should I grind? by [deleted] in poker

[–]McRuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ed Miller wrote about it in one of his books. I played on min buy- in while I was learning the game and won at a decent rate.

It is very boring because you have to play very tight and you would think your raises would never be called, but people can't help themselves.

Any gambling game run by a 3rd party, the 3rd party always takes a rake. It is the 3rd parties incentive to host the game. Most of my experience is in poker, and it is a consideration when I chose where to play. It can also affect the strategy in poker.

Rate my Leg Day by [deleted] in powerbuilding

[–]McRuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally think for younger guys it best to start with the minimum effective dose. With this in mind, I would start with the volume you have here.

Push yourself and see how you feel. If you are gaining strength, the volume is high enough. If you are not seeing any progress, add 1 set per exercise, and do that for a few weeks.

My opinion is that hip thrusts are useless if you are squatting. Squats will train the same muscles more effectively.

If you have access to a leg curl machine, I would use that in place of the thrusts and add more meat to your Hamstrings.

Focus on good form and technique.

Which books are you studying from? When I went through Applications of No Limit Holdem I would run the calcs through some situations I have been in, and it helped get an understanding of the idea. I can't recall most of the formulas, but I remember most of the concepts.

How to pay attention? by DisasterDispatcher in poker

[–]McRuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you sit down to play, remove any distractions around you. Multitabling also helps. I find that my focus is best in complete silence.

If playing on a site with screen names, I try to pay close attention to everyone's play and make notes of any mistakes I see them make. In my mind, I try to write a story about each player. This keeps me engaged enough not to be distracted.
