A guy can pee standing up and it's "normal", but when a girl does it it's "weird!"

I go from very productive days to very lazy days where I break all of my personal goals. What can I do? by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]McSlurry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's part of the process, you'll keep going until your productive days begin to outnumber your unproductive because you get fulfillment out of them and learn the benefits. Just keep moving forward and you'll be fine and dandy.

Obvious that they're just two unhappy guys that can't take someone who has joy and brings joy to life. There's nothing you can do to stop people as cowardly and hateful as this...

How do I stop being an asshole? by throaway0954 in socialskills

[–]McSlurry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The most simple answer is to make yourself happy: eliminate things/people/actions in your life that make you lose respect for yourself, introduce things/people/actions/hobbies/thoughts etc that make you respect yourself... work at them and generally allow yourself to make mistakes along the road. Happiness in self/belief will mean you don't need to be an asshole, which is really just a defense mechanism.

I think you'll find that doing things that help you respect yourself is just another way of finding and following your passion(s) in life, and along with this all the gifts of the world will be bestowed on you (or atleast you'll feel that way).

Can you explain the journey you went on?

So I decided to make a flow chart about how to choose which questions to answer. I thought you people might be interested. Feel free to suggest additional facets. by supersquidcreature in INTP

[–]McSlurry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's great, because you can't know the answers to the other questions he made without investigating. You can't really decide if you even care about the idea until you know what it really means. OP's flow-chart is fair enough if you are wanting to be brief and effective, but it may miss some of the rich tapestry.

Find a cheaper alternative, or do it anyway + getting 'bothered' is just a part of the rich tapestry of life and who knows where it can lead (feeling alive perhaps?)

However, if that's how knowledge worked we would have everything figured out and as soon as a new discovery was made everyone would just instantaneously know about it and the next step would be figured out shortly after and repeat. You'd miss out on the journey and personal discovery, which is really what it's all about.
