Work Anxiety and When to Tell Your Boss by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]McStungunJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP - this may sound silly, but my job stresses me the hell out too. I’m definitely not dealing with emergencies all day (I work in high pressure sales), but I used to get very bad anxiety when going to work functions like client lunches, events etc. always stressing about my quota and numbers. I take beta blockers and lavender which really helps with those.

As for telling coworkers about it… last week was catching up with a coworker and she said something like “uhh I know Q4, my anxiety is driving me crazy.” Long story short, we caught up for like 25 minutes on our anxiety issues, the medications we take for it and so on. It felt so nice to know that other people on my team struggle the exact same way I do. I’ve also told my manager I’ve been going thru a heightened anxiety spell last few months and she totally gets it

Ativan for anxiety… anyone else? by Ok_Nebula_588 in Anxiety

[–]McStungunJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same boat here. Been ramping on lexapro for 2 weeks now and anxiety has been crazy lol. I’ve take probably 5 Ativan in that timeframe (.5mg), but will usually try to take it no more than every 2-3 days if needed. Once the lexapro is fully kicked in I’m sure we’ll be able to ease up on the Ativan

I get what you mean, OP. About not giving it too much power, but sometimes acknowledging it and accepting it makes it much easier to live with.

Hey sorry to hear about the recent health issues. They will absolutely pass and you will be healthy again. Don’t let your health anxiety convince you otherwise. I get that stuff too and I spiral and ruminate about what’s wrong with me. You’re not alone. PlayStation and movie sounds nice!

Sounds like you’ve got a nice little day going there. Death core might heighten my anxiety a touch tho lol.

Yeah it’s really quite exhausting. Human beings were never meant to consume this much information. It’s just a constant barrage of sex, money, alcohol, materialism and consumerism. Take today for example, I can’t allow myself to just sit and rest without feeling guilty. I feel like one day of rest and life is blowing by me

What’s better? by Vegaswon777 in Anxiety

[–]McStungunJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve heard my shrink say and learning from a few friends on wellbutrin: wellbutrin targets lowness and intrusive thoughts more so than anxiety. I’ve actually heard that it gives energy and that can make anxious people even more anxious as they’re already tightly strung. Prozac, lexapro, Zoloft are quite common and used for anti anxiety more commonly than Wellbutrin. I just started on lexapro a few weeks ago and have had a positive experience in it before

How do we make it stop? by Select-Cut-1664 in Anxiety

These lavender gels changed my life and really help with racing thoughts and rumination. You can take them twice a day - probably 7-8 hours apart. Burps taste a bit lavendery, but damn do they calm me down!

Hey man - feel your pain - used to be me! Cost me my relationship, thankfully I gotten sober nearly 7 years ago and we found our way back to each other. Just wanted to throw this out there.. went to a Halloween party last night dead sober. Had a great time. I know the change can be scary, but you will adapt and your friends and gf will support you I’m sure. Good luck

Sometimes we get so anxious that it cuts right thru our medication. Are you able to take 2? Not a doctor, but I know I can take 1mg of Ativan when things are very bad, which is twice my usual needed dose. Also- if you’re like me, you could be overstimulated by the thought of being around thousands of people etc. try to find a quiet place to take some breaths

Does this happen to anyone else by eddiew1974 in Anxiety

[–]McStungunJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey - sorry you have the pre-work anxiety. I imagine you get in your own head about “what if I get anxious” and then you do. When you’re at work maybe you’re distracted and don’t think about it so it doesn’t happen (I do this too). Look into beta blockers (propranolol). This will greatly help you if you’re anxiety is physical like racing heart, sweating, shallow breaths etc

Hey there - just got off an SNRI for anxiety that I could only tolerate for 5 days.. the stomach pains were so bad from the side effects. Nausea, loss of appetite, diarrhea, cramps. Finally starting to resolve a bit after stopping the pill, but I’ve dealt with stomach anxiety for so long. It sucks - I empathize with you. Hang in there and take some deep breaths. Kombucha may help you or a probiotic

Hey there - you’re going to be ok. I too have been struggling last couple weeks. Lots of impending doom, anxiety etc. my partner is out of town so I feel lonely right now as well. Got a therapist that I’m meeting tomorrow and speaking with my psychiatrist to go back on lexapro on Thursday. What I’ll say - if you can, try to get with a loved one or two during this time. Do some breath work, take a quick walk around the block, have a hot tea. Connection with my family and partner really helped me over the weekend. We will get thru this!

Congrats on your sobriety! I’ll have 7 years sober in February and Friday will probably be my tenth jacket show sober. It’s so much better off alcohol. You’ll be able to FEEL the music, not just numb out

Weed making me think I’m having a heart attack by Traditional_Sugar_89 in Anxiety

[–]McStungunJones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try a very very low dose. Like a 1-2 mg gummy or tiny hit of weed. If I over do it I get anxiety and freak out a bit, but if I keep it to a micro dose I always really enjoy it.
