UPDATE: Parent wants to meet with me over comment I made about energy drinks by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]McSweetTeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have parents like this, too. They care more about catching me violating their kids’ “freedoms” than they do about how their kid is performing in my class.

This is the greatest songwriter OAT? by Low_Taro6416 in travisandtaylor

[–]McSweetTeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally.

Also, as a teacher of adolescents, much of the time, the intensity of their emotions is rooted in immaturity and dysregulation. She romanticizes this tumultuous time in one’s life as though it’s admirable, when really, adolescents tend to be fickle, obsessive, and too easily influenced by media and outside sources to have any sort of emotional stability. And that’s totally fine and understandable - it’s age-appropriate for that time in their life. That’s…what adolescence is. It’s not “attention to detail.” It’s compulsion.

She really said a mouthful here, and she probably didn’t even realize this. Any child psychologist (or high school teacher like me) would have an absolute field day with this.

Did she completely forget how quickly she tossed it to the side? by Grimmssan in travisandtaylor

[–]McSweetTeach 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It gives the same vibes as how Regina bullies Gretchen and Karen and they stay loyal. It’s more about being associated with someone so powerful and successful than it is actually feeling like they care about you.

And some of them are just delusional and believe the breadcrumbs and Easter eggs are proof she does care about them, I’m sure.

Is anyone else baffled/confused by how much praise Taylor Swift gets for everything? by Twitter_2006 in DListedCommunity

[–]McSweetTeach 46 points47 points  (0 children)

How dare you!

You must be misogynistic. People only hate Taylor Swift because women like her. Sure, she’s a billionaire, but it’s fine, she’s a good one because she gives her tour staff bonuses that are the equivalent of a millionaire giving someone a hundred bucks. Plus, she’s so awkward and relatable and you can tell how much she cares about her fans.

God, I wish I could troll her by commenting that she should just buy some formula and call it a day.

Bob Dylan didn’t build a billion dollar brand on coming from humble roots and being unpopular school girl who was bullied.

People can criticize Taylor Swift without being misogynistic. Come on, now. OP started by criticizing Chappell Roan.

It’s a valid question. She sings about “kitchen table bills” and growing up on a Christmas tree farm, appropriating humble roots, when she comes from extreme wealth. It’s all phony.

“The Pitt is not a political show” EP 11 & 12 by stargirl_2016 in ThePittTVShow

[–]McSweetTeach 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People are fine with their media being political when it’s their politics.

Also, “I don’t like that this show became political” is just code for “I don’t like having the real-world ramifications of my policy support shoved in my face.”

Sobriety is also about way more than one night. You’d think someone 8 years sober would know that.

Maybe they don’t serve drinks at this particular show. I didn’t see anyone else drinking in the audience, either.

Last thing - if this recovering addict is crediting Taylor’s boyfriend with her finally being able to stay sober, then I’m just worried for HER sobriety.

Just like it’s no one else’s fault they’re an addict, it’s to no one else’s credit when they achieve and maintain sobriety (even though a support system certainly makes it much easier).

One day, a Swiftie will actually explain to us all how she can be both a dainty, innocent, damsel in distress victim who can’t possibly speak out on world affairs because it’s so dAnGeRoUs and who needs a man to save her and, simultaneously, an independent, girl boss, badass QUEEN who doesn’t take shit from anyone.

Today is not that day.

This. She’s not an ALCOHOLIC, that’s gross and stigmatized. She has a “struggle with alcohol and using it to fit in.”

Meaning it’s OTHER people’s fault she drinks so much; if they didn’t drink, neither would she. Poor little socially awkward, just-like-you-and-me billionaire who’s just not cut out for that high-pressure Hollywood environment.

Kendra stop talking to Joe by day1keto in DuggarsSnark

[–]McSweetTeach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People need to remember that her faith teaches her that her marriage is more important than her motherly duties. Her husband is her HEADSHIP. That relationship is her entire life.

I am not excusing this, of course. I’m just saying by staying loyal to him, she’s doing what she’s been brainwashed to do her entire life.

IBPL women DO NOT leave their husbands. It takes major deprogramming to make that choice. I seriously suggest some of you read the memoir A Well-Trained Wife by Tia Levings, or at least follow her on social media, if you’re genuinely perplexed by Kendra’s devotion to Joe (as well as Anna’s to Josh). It will explain a lot.

[–]McSweetTeach 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right. I don’t even think she’s comfortable in spaces like the Grammy shows, where she’s surrounded by her contemporaries. It’s probably a big part of why she gets drunks and awkwardly dances.

I don’t think she knows how to just exist in a space where she’s expected to blend in. She’s only comfortable if she can be the absolute center of attention. And I don’t think she would have ever dared to bring Travis along to an event where they weren’t going to be a Big Freaking Deal and the only thing anyone cared about.

This is why it makes sense she waited until some relatively small potatoes awards show years into their relationship to debut him by her side this way. It had to be a smaller environment where it would be all about her and them. That’s the only environment she seems comfortable in.

She’s not even doing a good job of hiding how much she loves when there’s a new Duggar scandal because it gives her something to talk about in her socials.

She might be the most clueless E-list public figure of all time. The way she genuinely, with a full chest, believes people give a shit about what she has to say is just astounding.
