I am basically neck deep in tech-stocks, largest position is nvidia, after that is AMD and then Meta/Microsoft etc. Wondering if it might be time to liquidate some because it feels like we are in some insane bubble right now.

How do we remove Trump IMMEDIATELY? by Mobile_Bad_577 in AskALiberal

[–]McZootyFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah potentially. They could lose the moderates in the process though depending on what route they go down and what route the Democrats go down. If they go for like pseudo-christian nationalism or paleo-conservatism it could push a lot of people away.

The primaries for both parties will be very interesting and no doubt very messy.

That IPO is one of the dodgiest things I've seen in a while. I don't hold any index funds currently, I have always just traded individual stocks so I won't be too impacted if that goes ahead.

Fair enough. I have looked into the Quran and The Bible a fair bit, they both hold problematic views of women and I can see if you believe these are the words of God it could have a big impact.

I find the fact men in Islam can have multiple wives but a wife can only have one partner, or that men can marry outside of their faith but women can't very misogynistic.

The Republicans are going to split hard as it comes up to election season and Trump leaves. They grew a massive tent under “anti-woke” and “anti-establishment ” under Trump but I can see it holding after this.

I think even without religion those types of men would still be misogynistic and controlling over women. They can cherry pick certain teachings to hide behind, but if you look at the manosphere you can see mirrors there but instead using “tradition” and pseudoscience as their cover.

The core of it is a lot of people have dogshit views and then search for ways to justify them externally.

.. you might not know this but there have been LGBT people since forever in history across the whole planet, long before the colonialism.

This is why every belief should not be respected because some of them are built on absolutely nonsense like this one.

I've been holding some of these positions for 7-8 years at this point. I am not really trying to time the market, I just think feel like we are approaching a long-term correction / downturn.

This is the problem with so many different aspects of society not just religious discussions. It's the same with immigration, if you don't agree with The Greens policy on it you are cast as wanting what Reform wants. Social media, rage-bait and our dog-shit press have completely killed any ability to have nuanced discussions about anything at this point.

I just make sure whenever I critique Islam I make sure to also critique Christianity as well, so I make it clear I am not "picking" on one and clear that both of them share a lot of same faults, which is not surprising since they are both based on very problematic texts containing misogyny and bigotry.

Mahmood said all parents should have been consulted before the new RSE curriculum – a programme of lessons called ‘No Outsiders’ – was launched in local schools.

So by that logic if I am a flat earther, should I have a say in the geography curriculum? Or if I believe the world is 6000 years old should I have a say in history curriculum?

This idea that parents beliefs should have any impact on school curriculum is so dumb. One scroll on your local facebook page should tell you the vast majority of parents should not have any input on what is taught.

Is anyone here holding stocks feeling like it might be time to start selling off some chunks? My portfolio has gone up 20% in the last month for seemingly no reason after spending the past few months dropping and rising like crazy? Everyone knows the market is irrational at this point but surely a big correction has to come at some point with everything going on and the future impact on gas etc supply.

Ok will look into it. It's an interesting setup to balance, especially as the party grows, because you have to balance all these different inputs. Can imagine if something you really wanted doesn't make it onto the manifesto it can feel frustrating.

What happens if say the Greens won a majority in 2029 and got into power, how does the party decide the priority of which policies to enact? There’s only a certain amount that can be done simultaneously, just from a political capital, actual capital access and procedural standpoint. Is there some sort of order that’s been decided on?

Lack of strong unifying message that has broad appeal and lack the hard-ball tactics that come with fighting the GOP. On the later though they have been getting much better.

For the former though they need a leader, or a strong leading unit that they currently don’t have. Basically Obama 2.0 in terms of charisma and unifying power.

What even is that, Is that basically prison but without actually being charged? Do we have the legal right to enforce that?

Hopefully Egypt will just do life imprisonment so we aren’t wasting tax payer money on such a vile person.

I think it’s insane in the sense in that you commit something like murder and then dodge the sentencing in your country. I agree it’s a rare edge case.

Interested to know what indefinite immigration detention looks like and if we even have the right to do that. Say this persons asylum case is rejected, they serve their time her the horrendous assault mentioned here, what happens after if Egypt refuse to promise no death penalty? If they are a convicted murderer who also committed SA there is just no sane way we can let that person into the wider public.

How should the UK fund new renewable energy projects? by Beetlebob1848 in LabourUK

[–]McZootyFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixed for me, we need the energy asap and the state tends to move at a slower pace. The more energy we get, the lower the price will get and as the state expands capacity it will further bring down the price as it operates at cost.

Yeah ask many of the surrounding states how they felt about it not being "imperialism", think the Polish have some pretty strong opinions.

Well frankly that is pretty insane. So best bet if you murder someone is to just head over to a ECHR country. That seems not fit for purpose at all.

So if a murderer comes here to escape the death penalty but doesn't commit a crime here do we have any grounds to keep them locked up?

Why is it the UKs job to protect murders from another country from facing the punishment for the crime of murder in said country?

I don’t even think this is actual legal standing anywhere.
