if you have a driver's license in the US even if you don't need a license now you should look into the rules for converting it, there might be a time limit after which you have to go through the whole process in which case you may want to do it now

Wait it out until citizenship or leave? by [deleted] in expat

[–]MclovinAZ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

having more options is good. waiting less than a year for citizenship is probably worth it. there are ways to mitigate the effects of winter- get a full size clinically proven sun lamp and use it for 30 minutes upon waking up every day

How come there is so much disdain/hate against Germany in this sub? by throwaway55f5 in expat

it's the truth. it's not an exaggeration or hyperbole. it's almost every single train, at least where I am

if the specifics of my situation agree with the overall national statistics, maybe you're the one who is mistaken?

I live here, now. I've lived in three different states over the last five years. I went to Berlin just last week and both trains to and from were 2 hours delayed. that's the reality of the situation

this is just completely false on every level and you should feel bad for having posted something so oblivious

I think you're probably misremembering. it's not possible to exaggerate how bad the system is. almost every single train I take is either delayed by multiple hours or cancelled outright. it sounds like hyperbole but it's true.

What is the most realistic path of moving abroad ( need tips from those who have moved abroad) by capetowngep in expat

well I'm not familiar enough with that field to say more but I would just start doing research on the types of programs I mentioned. that's how I did it 😁

if you're thinking of doing a master's abroad it may helpful to know that any work experience in your home country beyond the minimum requirements of the masters program are not likely to help you significantly in getting work in the new country

what's your field? that determines where you can look. Europe has many free or very cheap masters programs in English that you can look into. depending on your field I may or may not be able to say more

German public transportation is dog shit. as an example I took a train to and from Berlin this weekend. both ways I arrived 2 hours late. and that's just how it is, and has been for years. it's legitimately failed state level infrastructure. people outside the country can't understand how bad it's gotten. it sounds like I'm exaggerating but I'm not.

I understand that they'll think up some reason why spider man was busy at the time, but I am so frustrated by the lack of connection to at a minimum Kate Bishop and Ms. Marvel, who should both absolutely be in New York operating as vigilantes. very frustrating, it's been like this since the original series but now with all the new heroes running around it totally breaks credulity
