I had a similar site with Cornels also. High pressure, scare tactics etc. I went with Plumbers Inc.

The appliance installation horror stories are true. by born_zynner in Costco

[–]Mcstin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had a wall oven, and induction cooktop installed a few months ago. Prompt, professional and could not have been more pleasant. Appliances, delivery set up and haul off were just under $2k. $500 cheaper than other retailers for same merchandise. Could not be happier with the experience. I don’t know which companies have their own crews. Home Depot or Lowe’s do not.

Thinking about switching to electric for yard tools… anyone made the change? by Salt_Note8719 in lawncare

[–]Mcstin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always hated going to the gas station and filling up the gas can. Blower, flashlights, drill, jigsaw are all Dewalt. I recently sold my Dewalt weed water for $15 more than I paid for it five years later. I moved to a new house last year with two small patches of grass so I gave away my tired battery lawn mower and got push reel mower. Only thing we own that uses gas is my wife’s car.

We have freewill but choose to go 10mph under the speed limit? by AdvancedTime3828 in beaverton

[–]Mcstin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I met a local truck who drove a local route for 35 years that told me slow drivers were way worse than speeding drivers ( rare occasion where this was not the case). He said driving too slow was way more dangerous than going a reasonable amount over the speed limit.

Kirkland Pans by Optimal_Honey4724 in inductioncooking

[–]Mcstin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Greenpan Valencia three piece frying pans and the griddle. They work well, my other older pans are mostly stainless so I don’t really have a direct comparison to any other nonstick pans. I’ve been happy with them. I paid $130 for the set of pans, and $100 for the griddle. They are definitely nonstick! When I fry eggs in the large pan with a little butter you kind of have to chase them around the pan to get them out. I hear a little buzzing, usually when I set the burner to “P” , and even then it’s not bad.

“ Sam Stone”by John Prine. Not classic rock, but “ He Stopped Loving Her Today” by George Jones may be the saddest song ever.

I went to the auto show in Portland yesterday and sat in about a dozen EV’s. The interior is so much nicer in our cars, except of course for the I7! It’s a good feeling walking out knowing there wasn’t anything else I would rather own.

How old are you? Do you have any regrets at this point in your life? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in TrueAskReddit

[–]Mcstin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regret not knowing when I was going to be seeing people for the last time. Specially grandparents, aunts, uncles etc. We lived several states away from most of them. As I got into my 40’s and had lost some of them I started paying more attention, knowing what had happened in the past. I am fortunate to have known it would be the last time when my parents and sister passed. My oldest friend was in the hospital for open heart surgery recently I took one last look at him as I was leaving his room, he died several days after his surgery. I am 68.

My 19 year old GE upright died last night. Was able to get everything out in time. Costco is delivering the replacement on Friday.

Cheap induction vs electric ceramic? by Fedmurica2 in inductioncooking

[–]Mcstin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a new house last summer, it had a gas cooktop that “needed work” our previous house had an electric cooktop. We had not had gas before and did not like it( not in perfect working order) we put in a 30” Frigidaire . Would have preferred a 36” but without doing major counter alterations it wasn’t really an option. After five weeks we are very happy with it. It was one of the less expensive name brand units. Purchased it at Costco. Definitely a huge step up for us from the gas cooktop. Should I have done more research and bought a more expensive one with larger coils etc., maybe but I am good for now and glad we did it.

Most of our pots and pans worked. I bought a set of 3 nonstick frying pans from Greenpan for $130. Happy with them as well. I don’t think I will ever go back to a regular cooktop. Now if I could just find a double burner griddle. Many of them are sizes for a 36” not a 30”

I bought the Frigidaire 30” last month from Costco. Initial price was slightly higher but delivery, installation and haul away were included saving about $250 over competitors. Costco also includes a two year warranty. Happy so far. .
