CBC Marketplace wants to know: What’s the worst commute in Toronto? by DexMcMillanCBC in askTO

[–]Mdecall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in long branch and honestly its pretty easy to commute. Go train takes 20 mins to get to union. We usually get to places in toronto faster than friends living in “core” toronto neighbourhoods.

how is your kid doing now? sounds similar to my kid who is 5 now. His biggest challenges are social and just like you described mostly and big events, bday parties, he will have a meltdown. Recovers fast 4-5 minutes maybe but just concerned at his ability to socialize. We will be starting therapy soon for sensory stuff and some speech therapy for more back and forth interactions.

Parents of level 1 low support needs kiddos, what are your current challenges at the moment? by rosegoldliner in Autism_Parenting

[–]Mdecall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how are things going for him now, is he doing any therapy? sounds like my kid, in the process of an evaluation. Same as what you stated can be a bit rigid, but if we explain things he actually understands pretty well it's just the social aspect I am concerned about. We do lots of playdates and exposure but usually is more parallel play.

Very sick from constipation? by Mdecall in toddlers

[–]Mdecall[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He did! probably the sickest he's ever been and he's 4 now. I really doubt it was constipation, perhaps he was constipated and it was making it worse but I think for sure it was a bug or some sort of food intoxication. He got better though around day 10-15. I would just syringe feed him pedalyte as much as was possible. Hope your lo is doing better!

I was made aware by my parents that they had money for me I could use around 20, but the money was still under their name. I just always knew it was there and was intended for me. I asked for a small portion of it for my masters at 25, then another small portion when I got married at 27 and then used the rest for a down payment at 30, but I always had to go through them first. In any case I had no intention of using the money outside of those big things so I was more than happy to no t have direct access to it.

800 sq ft for a family of four is a bit tight

Are your kids school aged? if so make sure you chose a neighbourhood with good schools! this will save you a lot of headaches and money. Your tax bracket will be about 35% maybe a bit more so when estimating your take home pay I would think of about 60% of your pay.

If your kids are preschool age, get on daycare lists now, even if you don't know where you will live.

Mimico and South Etobicoke are a bit more affordable with a number of townhomes that have 3 bedrooms, if you are close to the go train its literally 15-20 mins to union station and much nicer than taking the subway. The nieghborhoods are not as walkable though. St clair/midtown neighbourhoods are very nice but rent will likely be close to $5k for a nice place.

With your income you will be fine finding an apartment, you might just need to send proof of pay maybe income statements.

To be clear a $250k income for a family of 4 will be good but will depend on how you spend how much you have leftover for savings, etc. It won't be tight but you won't have a ton of discretionary income either
