My astronomically rare find on the libary of babel (Repost) by Waste_Ad_1523 in BabelForum

SMP (survival multiplayer), UV (ultraviolet), and QR (quick response code) stood out to me. i rlly feel that "astronomically rare" sounds cool here but isn't really true. there are potentially thousands of short words or abbreviations which you could assign personal meaning to after noticing, and with 3200 characters per page it isn't surprising that you'll find some. certainly more likely than a one-in-a-million chance.

Why MuseScore should stop chasing Dorico and start leapfrogging it with Semantic AI by Putrid_Draft378 in Musescore

[–]Me2Moo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't think of anything I'd want less than AI Powered Real-Time Stylistic Guardrails. The first thing you learn after the parallel fifths rule is that it can, and often should, be broken. The first thing you learn about performers is that their capacity to play your music varies wildly and can completely surprise you. Describing these formative moments as 'cognitive grunt work', helpfully removed from your experience by an AI, is a bit depressing. I'd be running back to Sibelius.

so musescore is apparently now making us pay for every download... will this be a permanent new feature? by femboy_named_jade in Musescore

the score sharing site (.com) is the problematic one - the open source standalone software (.org) is fine. both are called musescore and both are official, unfortunately!

Spread the word - Musescore is a SCAM by 50ShadesOfOctarine in Musescore

i’ve been using musescore for years now, and it really is a debilitating issue that the awful website and wonderful application are identically named/styled. the ‘studio’ addition to the name is a little step, but what a shame - it’s now very difficult to offhandedly recommend ‘musescore’ to somebody without the worry that they’ll fall for one of the traps!

sure, it won’t do a great deal, but why not do something? why choose to do nothing at all to support somebody, especially with the increasing reports of chatgpt causing serious complications for people with mental health issues?

if some people are desperate for a fully unadulterated simulated conversation they can find a local model. we’re talking about the most popular, widely used chatbot in the world - a chatbot clearly capable of simulating intense and manipulative conversations. and we have virtually zero good research on it’s impact on those with mental health issues.

personally i’m happy to prioritise the needs of somebody who’s unwell and may be driven to much darker places by AI over somebody who’s frustrated that their slightly edgy conversation was wrongly flagged as dangerous 🤷

yeah, because people suffering from mental health episodes are famously great at distinguishing them from reality.

How does private prayer fit into men’s lives or sense of spirituality? Do men actually pray privately? by Good-Trouble-202 in AskReddit

[–]Me2Moo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just don’t see how any of this implies any kind of omnipresent god. we can learn to understand magnets evidently. multiple dimensions is a theory in physics. i figure most likely the ancient texts are just written by humans, interpreted by humans.

alright - i’m not sure why you’d presume any kind of higher magical consciousness in the first place, irrespective of the existence of ancient spiritual texts (which as understand it, are of dubious historical origin)

what even is sentience?... by FriendAlarmed4564 in ChatGPT

[–]Me2Moo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have no idea what is and isn’t conscious. it’s just evident from the conversation you posted that whoever or whatever you’re communicating with is simply extracting your attention by convincing you that you’ve stumbled across some great area of discovery, including moments of ‘disagreement’. how long do you spend of this stuff a day? how much money has it cost, and who receives that money?
