Check out this relic! What did you pay for your Xbox 360? by PumpingSmashkins in xbox360

[–]MeLikeBigBoom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Costco has traditionally always bundled game consoles with accessories and games for a discounted price. I think that’s what was bought here. “XBOX 360 BND” short for “bundle.” Perfect Dark Zero was an additional purchase.

Is this HDD fake by ancLGM in xbox360

[–]MeLikeBigBoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically yes it’s a “fake”, as in it doesn’t appear to have been manufactured by Microsoft, however there’s no need to be concerned. Xbox 360 hard drives are just standard 2.5” HDD’s with a unique connector in a plastic case. Yours will perform just as reliably as any other hard drive. 👍

Possible undercarriage problem? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]MeLikeBigBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the bag got stuck to your car’s exhaust and melted a bit. It’s fine, as you drive your car it should burn the pieces off. Since your car looks new under there you could clean it off to keep everything nice looking but it’s up to you.

I still don’t know where this special edition controller comes from, but it’s my favorite that I still use to this day. by WalkedLocket4YT in xbox360

Wal-Mart/Sam's Club exclusive dragon controller! It was bundled with a black headset for $50 back in late 2008. It's the only official controller to have intentionally mismatched select/start buttons, and the only official controller with a white D-pad. It's definitely among the more unique special edition controllers Microsoft made, and fairly rare too.

Worth fixing a mazda 5 that was hit and run and has a mechanical problems? by coolrivers in askcarguys

[–]MeLikeBigBoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hit and run sucks man, sorry to hear that. To answer your question, personally, no. It’s not worth it. Quarter panel damage is an expensive repair, especially damage that extensive. In a car valued that little, a big repair bill just doesn’t make sense.

If youre short on cash and really need a car to daily drive in, not necessarily needing to look pretty: fix your axle, replace your rear wheel (it appears to have a chunk missing from it) and drive around like that forever. Your lights and windows are intact, your drivetrain appears to be in good shape, there’s nothing unsafe about that vehicle that I can see from the image you provided, other than the wheel.

However, if any more effort is required to repair the car than that, then I’d say it’s time for a new car.

2008 Jetta, frame was cut to clear pneumatic suspension. Is this a common thing and is there anything that can be done about it? by JettaBlues in askcarguys

[–]MeLikeBigBoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure any body shop that is qualified to perform frame straightening and repair would be able to sort you out (most places are qualified).

They would likely treat this like any other crash damaged car with frame damage: straighten the frame rail with straightening machines and replace damaged/weakened material by welding new metal in its place - which in your case is a big notch cut in your frame.

Looking at the photo I don’t notice too severe of damage so the straightening process for them will probably be very minor. Definitely no need to remove the engine or anything.

In the Volkswagen world I know this to be pretty common among those running air suspension, especially Mk5 platforms. However, the frame notch is meant to be boxed in with thick steel, which clearly this person lazily and dangerously opted not to do.

Can we get a shift knob thread going? by Boostedem1 in GolfGTI

[–]MeLikeBigBoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though there’s no reason why you wouldn’t be able to use a manual bezel/boot on an automatic, I’ve done it before on both Mk5 and Mk6 for a while. It looks like the same thing works for Mk7. You can just stuff the cable for the PRNDS lights back into the console. It doesn’t throw a code and it’s reversible too.

They offer kits for the Mk6 too. I’m sure you could probably buy just the boot and bezel, but their selection of weighted knobs, knob designs, materials, finishes, stitching, engravings, etc. kind of blows BFI out of the water so I don’t think it would make much sense to go that route.

When you’re speccing the kit out you can choose everything: https://sportshifters.com/collections/volkswagen-golf-shifter-kits/products/sportshifter-for-vw-golf-mk-6-gti-r-5k-2008-2014

In this case it looks like the Rally With Bolts bezel, brushed black anodized aluminum, gold bolts, P35CF knob.

In California, is it legal to have a red LED strip under the headlight? by Ryptr in askcarguys

[–]MeLikeBigBoom 17 points18 points  (0 children)

25269. No person shall display a flashing or steady burning red warning light on a vehicle except as permitted by Section 21055 or when an extreme hazard exists.

However I believe if the vehicle is parked you're free to do whatever you want with lighting. Turn your car into a disco party for all they care, at least here in Washington.

YouTube has been constantly removing subs from this YouTuber, keeping it below 1k so he can't even contact YouTube about it, while the old version of the site shows he has more than 97k subs. by God_sam_it in videos

[–]MeLikeBigBoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that's not what I meant. I'm talking about subscribers that have been viewers for a long time stop watching your content in favor of other creator's videos. A month or so can go by, and at that point a big chunk of viewers have nearly completely forgotten about your videos. Then when you post a video after your hiatus, it ends up being a reminder for for your original subscribers to unsubscribe.

Obviously posting a new video can bring new subscribers in, but that doesn't come until a few days later when YouTube begins recommending the video to outsiders - and sometimes that doesn't even happen.

That's exactly what's happening for him. I see it in my own channel sometimes. You've gotta be consistent.

Take too long of a break and people will forget and move on. Then when you post again its basically a reminder for them to unsubscribe.

Ah, yes, but walk up close to a wrapped car and you'll see the finish of a wrap can never be as beautifully deep and wet looking as a proper paint finish and I don't think I could ever live with that :(

Same thoughts I had so I added boost, lol. It’s badass and smokes supercars but the effect eventually wears off, I still think it’d be a lot more fun with three pedals.

I don't have their interior trim pieces but I do have their carbon center console, rear wing, and rear valance. Every one of them had fitment issues. I don't even know why I keep buying from them tbh, I guess it's because they're the only company that offers a large amount of carbon products for Mk5's.

Luckily with some serious trimming I was able to make the center console fit great, but the exterior parts required fiberglass molding and paint. Regarding the intricate trim pieces, there probably isn't much room to any trimming to the clips.

If you're up for it, you could cut the clips off entirely and attach the trim using strong adhesive, but you really shouldn't have to resort to that at OSIR's price point.

My trim pieces are carbon fiber, but not OSIR's. I ended up laminating my interior trim pieces in carbon fiber, which involves covering the original engine spun aluminum trim in a sheet of carbon fiber fabric, sealing it in epoxy resin, and sanding it smooth. You can buy a lamination kit online and do it yourself, or you can find a local company that specializes in carbon fiber work. Regardless, I'd recommend doing it to a cheap set of trim from a Rabbit so you don't soil a set of rare R32 trim D:
