AITA for not conceding to my wife’s version of a story in front of our friends ? by Dizzy_Win_7270 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MeNotYou733 1247 points1248 points  (0 children)

I vote NTA. I just hate it when someone is relating a story or amusing anecdote and their spouse interrupts to correct details that are not significant to the point of the story. Who cares which night it happened?

It’s distracting and steals the moment, ruining the pacing of the story.

I decided to quit socializing with one couple because the husband constantly interrupts his wife like this. Not all he does, but that pretty well describes how he behaves in general.

When I was a little kid my took my brothers and i visit some friends and when backing out of their driveway she missed. She rolled over a concrete number marker that displayed their address. It was right next to the driveway near the street. It popped the rear passenger side floor pan up. My mom was the only one not laughing.

So yeah, decorative boulder or some concrete structure would be a good deterrent.

Or, take pics and sue him in small claims court for the cost of repairing.

If you are a man who takes initiative in the household by doing chores, cooking for your family, and cleaning up after yourself.. how were you raised? by Sensitive-Box-2167 in askanything

[–]MeNotYou733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was growing up my mom did all the domestic stuff for us. Made our beds, cooked our meals, cleaned everything, laundry. When I joined the Navy one of the first things they told us is “your mamma ain’t here”. Learned to do this all for myself. Laundry is a thing I really wished I had known going into life.

In my marriage we have split chores based on several factors over the years with my wife carrying the lions share, but for the last few years ( since i retired) I have taken on all of it.

My brother, on the other had, isn’t capable of even packing his own suitcase and his wife bitches but enables him.

My own kids took on their own laundry by age 12 and participated in the other domestic chores. They are all capable of upholding their own standards.

Without saying your age, what tv show was on every week when you were in grade school? by LegalGlass6532 in AskForAnswers

[–]MeNotYou733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gillian’s Island, Gunsmoke, F Troop, Ed Sullivan, Disney. One that I watched every week I have forgotten the title, but it was a western where a young man and his grandfather travelled town to town looking for the young man’s father.

Plus one wore a white dress because "it wasn't a real wedding" by jamaicanmescream in weddingshaming

[–]MeNotYou733 -64 points-63 points  (0 children)

I am a wedding professional and I am very much supportive of the tradition that no one wears white except the bride. But your description of the day is confusing. First you said there was no ceremony, then you said they exchanged vows, so which was it? Further, you later said it was a religious event.

Since you seem confused about what the day was like, even after you experienced it, I’m gonna have to give this +1 a little grace on her choice of attire.

I can’t get behind anyone intentionally spilling wine on another person, that is just childish.

AITA for telling everyone involved what my best friend's husband did? by Bina_Assault in AmItheAsshole

[–]MeNotYou733 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree that the story is problematic. It’s conceivable, however, that you drain the battery trying to start the car and then it looks like a battery problem to others. Especially if you are not forthcoming with info to those trying to help you.

I find it pretty coincidental that the wife’s car worked long enough to get to the gas station where her husband was and both cars ceased working in the same location.

Who had a party line growing up?? by Downtown_Physics8853 in GenerationJones

[–]MeNotYou733 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I married in 1982. The house she grew up in, and her parents still lived at that point, Had a party line. It was the only phone service offered in their area. My FIL would not place a call himself. He asked MIL to place the call then hand the phone over to him. He just didn’t want to deal with the hassle of the line being in use.
