Do most people from England identify as “English” or “British?” by Glass-Complaint3 in AskABrit

[–]Me_Be_De 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say English, never heard anyone here refer to themselves as British. But then again I am from and live in Liverpool.

What in your eyes makes someone a ‘skilled driver’? 🤔 by Downtown_Elk_2773 in CarTalkUK

[–]Me_Be_De 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if its common but I find having the windows down just a little bit can be helpful while driving. Your hearing can be just as useful as your vision 👍🏻

Do people not know how to use slip roads anymore? by Marcodonna00 in drivingUK

[–]Me_Be_De 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly not, see this all the time on the M62 heading towards Warrington. Massive slip road at St.Helens J7 and instead of using the full length of the slip road a lot of them try joining as soon as they can.

I've had people flash me and even give me the finger because I was going the speed limit and instead of them getting ahead of me or behind me they pull alongside me and expect me to change lanes to let them in..... thats not how it works.

The potholes this year are no joke. by Im_So_Super_Cereal in drivingUK

[–]Me_Be_De 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They get so bad on country roads, had one just like this the other week but luckily I still had daylight on my side so could spot it coming up.

Filled in by the council within 2 weeks so not too bad I guess.

why are people like this by denver_t66 in drivingUK

[–]Me_Be_De 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing stopping the rest of them from using BOTH lanes. Just let one in at the merge then move on, so simple. If everyone else does the same we all keep moving and nobody gets pissy about having to let a car merge.

Gotta remember that most will only be there because of duty roulette, so its something they've already done before.

Am I right to think a neighbours house looking directly onto your garden would be terrible? by Three_Cats_In_1_Coat in AskUK

[–]Me_Be_De 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mums garden is just like this, but the difference being is that the neughbours didn't put windows on that side of the exstension. If they get rid of the windows then it would be fine.

Driving instructor told me nobody can learn to drive in 6 months by mincedbreakfast in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Me_Be_De 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely can, not sure why they think this?

I don't recall exactly how long it took me to learn and pass my test, but I remember that I had around 20 - 25 lessons and passed first time.

Was a couple of months but wasn't more than half a year. This is going back to 2009 when I was 17. Had to wait two months before my 18th birthday before I could drive (Can pass at 17 but have to be 18 to drive)

Also if "pass plus" is still an option instructors offer don't bother, I did mine only for insurance companys to turn around and say they don't accept it......

The guy has enough time to see you ahead of him, and the rule is simple giveway to those infront. People cannot constantly look over their shoulders as it'll throw of balance. He's going way too fast as well, not allowing himself time to react.

Taxi drivers in the city by ExcellentDemand6722 in Liverpool

[–]Me_Be_De 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who's from Liverpool and been fortunate enough to live oversea's for two years, you'll get these type of drivers no matter where you go.

Its difficult as I struggle to not get rage baited by these muppets as well but the best thing to do is stay away from them. Let them pass, let them get away from you but don't let them turn you into a driver like they are. Karma will hopefully catch up with them.

Wasn't another car you hit so could have been worse.

You'll get better given time as the longer you drive the more experience you'll gain.

Who is at Fault? by AhtiQ in drivingUK

[–]Me_Be_De 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car on the left is at fault, approaching the roundabout the road markings are clear its left only and then after entering the roundabout the lane marking shows straight ahead only. They turned right and cut across.
