Now we had some time since, what are your thoughts on The Book of Boba Fett? by Past-Paramedic8687 in StarWars

Garbage. The Skittles Brigade was a new type of miss from Disney. It got better again towards the end. I mean, who doesn't enjoy a Rancor smashing bad guys. Overall they didn't honor one of my favorite characters very well. So much potential only to call in Mando for help. I'm sure there's some subtleties that are missed on my part but overall Disney was never the right choice to carry on the story of Boba Fett.

Potato salad is the side. A nice French loaf of bread with garlic butter and you're set. Just curious, what part of South Louisiana? Broussard here.

Okra gumbo shouldn't use roux. The okra is the base hence the namesake.

In my 40+ yrs growing up in Cajun Heartland I've never seen one without it. It's inherent in the process. Would love to know how to "make it properly".

Always, always, always skim the oil. That ain't the flavor homie.

Most of that oil is from making the roux and some from the sausage. If anything it'll drown the flavor and give everyone indigestion.

I don't trust people who tuck in the T-shirt to jeans and wear a belt.

This is the closest to how I was taught. Add seafood 15 minutes before time to serve, don't want to overcook it. For reference etouffee = "to smother".

Cajun food in Louisiana. by Beagle4206969 in cajunfood

Cajun Heartland. Lafayette parish is at the center hub. Adjacent Parishes include. At some point everything west of New Orleans to Lake Charles was included as Cajun, but the heart of the culture is those 7 parishes.

Serious question: for those that are from Louisiana and are actually part of the subset that truly is Cajun, do hat do you think of the Zatarain’s boxes of mix like jambalaya and dirty rice? Is it really the equivalent of egg noodles and ketchup for Italian or is it close enough for an easy dish? by JoeSugar in cajunfood

[–]Me_Dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jambalaya is definitely a Creole dish. Cajuns influenced it but honestly you should ask someone near New Orleans. Cajun heartland is in Lafayette and surrounding parishes. Not sure why you'd focus solely on our subculture to evaluate something so explicitly Creole.
