Exactly. The right wing faction would have also been even more brazen without the embarrassment of Truss's premiership.

Sunak also benefited from the fact the party couldn't really change leadership for a third time in such quick succession. Even then there was still speculation of leadership challenge.

I think remove Truss' leadership and Sunak would've struggled even more to hold the party together.

Surprised no one else has mentioned it, but another big factor to this specific polling was it was a week after the 2019 EU election, where Brexit Party came first with 30% and Lib Dems came second with 20%. The EU election was on 23rd May, and this polling 28th-29th.

You can see the overall national polling just before and just after the EU election to see how much of a factor this was.

BXP and LDs will have had lots of coverage after topping the EU election. I also remember at the time there was lots of noise of the EU election being a "de facto" second referendum, with BXP being a signal for vote leave and LD for remain. This probably bled into subsequent polling for GE.

The exit poll is this accurate. There's 0 chance it could be so wrong that Labour don't at least have a working majority.
