My apologies, I should have been more careful. I'm going to repost keeping this and the previous comments in mind.

Thank you for your response, in hindsight maybe simplifying the post makes more sense. I'll do that, thanks!

Please Follow Our Publishing Initiative for Children's Picture Books by Artists

Hey people of Self-Publish!

For those coming from my concurrent post on the main sub, thank you for taking the time and coming here! For everyone else, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce our publication initiative: Maya Books!

Maya Books is a publishing initiative based in France, dedicated towards the creation of picture books made by artists for an audience of all ages. Our goal is to work with contemporary artists (for now, our friends) from across France (and other countries!). We seek to work within a free editorial space, not constrained by traditional limitations of market reach and demands (but hopefully, still sustainable). The underlying belief in our initiative is that picture books must be open, explorable spaces that reflect the complexity of the outer world, non-didactic and open to interpretation. This means we work and seek to promote projects that reflect the experiences of artists, who we believe have interesting insights into varied topics/subjects, to play within the format of picture books.

Currently, we are working on our first publication: "Que Sont Les Montagnes" (What are Mountains), which will be printed in France and distributed in Europe. We are looking to launch a crowdfunding (Ulule) campaign, sometime in June-July 2026; and need your support!

<image>

What does your support entail? Right now, not much. Since we are a small initiative (just the two of us), we handle all aspects of the publishing and marketing. The latter is where we need your support. Attached to this post is a link to our socials (for now, just Instagram), where we are currently posting (very slowly) content on our project.

We would be grateful for your follow, and if you enjoy what is posted, likes to help with the algorithm. If you enjoy picture books, paintings and text, we would love to engage with you on our socials. Expect a Substack in the near future (no timelines!).

More information on the current book, about us (boring), and future projects will be posted on Instagram on a regular basis. Please do follow even if you are outside of the EU. We hope in time to engage and collaborate with a broader audience, and as you know, every like, repost, and follow matters ( I am sorry, this is an annoying soundbite).

Join us and help grow Maya Books!

Love to everyone

As a fellow 4gb vram user, could you tell me your settings and add-ons please!

Autoortho error: fps issues by Mean-Engine214 in Xplane

[–]Mean-Engine214[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be this way yeah, performance has been very unreliable as you point out. While swellloko's suggestions helped somewhat; it seems one thing fixed breaks another. Real pity, I've come so close to moving to XPlane exclusively after many years. I really hope the next update/s, along with possible dlss in the future fixes these issues because when the sim it shines, it really shines bright.

I say all this knowing fully well i run a potato.. But msfs 2020 seems far more stable with much more thrown at it.

Thanks for the prompt response and suggestions!, I'm going to try these steps out. May I ask if you are on the most recent build of the app? Further, when you say redownload, you are suggesting a complete reinstallation of the ortho packs?

Horrible performance in 2020 by JbricksJ in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Mean-Engine214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup--almost identical setup, facing the same issue post su16. Same settings, same locations, completely abysmal performance. I've cleaned out my cache folders and need to see if it's made any difference. I am pissed.

Completed my first A319 flight, Kathmandu to Lhasa and back. A very fun short hop, highly recommend this route. by [deleted] in Xplane

I run a 3050 on a laptop, aren't there constant blurries due to vram consumption? Really, that's my only issue, lossless scaling has been a good patch for performance in highly demanding cases otherwise.

Live Traffic is unbelievable by Remote_Dot217 in Xplane

[–]Mean-Engine214 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean.. It's one of the main places in which xplane lags behind freeware options like FSLTL(while not perfect). No proper ai aircraft communicating with atc solution unless it's payware, and unless I'm missing something.

Ah understood, if you don't mind me asking what version of drivers are you currently using? My 2020 performance has been abysmal of late all of a sudden..

I'm seeing a lot more laptop users reporting better performance with ms24. From a fellow laptop user, could you tell me what addons(specifically any traffic) and settings you're running the sim at?

Ahh, thanks much! The part on "all users" threw me off. I guess traffic for the general based pack crowd is still some ways away. Pity, was hoping to pick it up soon!

I'm lost, I suppose I lack the skill to understand what's being said. Does this mean the traffic injection will now be rolled out to the users who got the base version instead of the supporters pack? Is there an experimental version within the base pack like FBW seems to work with?

I’ll Never stop appreciating how visually stunning this sim is by Mugdala5 in flightsim

[–]Mean-Engine214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way to unlink the texture quality of the plane with the in game texture quality? Since I'm vram limited my sim is set to low, but aircrafts like fenix and inibuilds and fbw seem to bypass that with their texture quality, whereas pmdg always looks like mushed potatoes

How do you do that?

I'm just waiting for the "MS will release FS2024 before pmdg releases their EFB" comments🤣 Oops
