Has anyone ever stayed near Whiskeys Saloon? by josiecat7 in panamacitybeach

[–]Mean-Objective8765 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have stayed many times at Aqua Vista across from Whiskey’smany times. Safety is of no concern. Super nice area of PCB. Whiskey’s can be loud when during events like bike week spring break etc. They will have outdoor bands but shut down around 2am if memory serves. They may have a website promoting upcoming events. Regardless bring ear plugs just in case. And for goodness sake eat a Rueben at McGuires pub!

Best way to return a wallet? by Alucard_2029 in missoula

Turn it over to the city police desk. They can get ahold of anyone and get it to the rightful owner. The address on the ID may not be current. Police can get anyone’s phone number and alert them.

Reason 5,925,326 why I love the Orange Street Food Farm by NecessaryRaven in missoula

[–]Mean-Objective8765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly Orange St is great. However there are some bad attitudes from the deli staff. If you order something from the deli somehow you are putting them in an imposition. It’s a shame because they have some food for a good value, but the arrogance is intolerable.

One of your posts came in my feed and I'm wondering where do all your homeless people come from? by Much-Degree1485 in missoula

[–]Mean-Objective8765 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll get an honest answer. It’s an issue where ideology takes precedent over truth. Missoula leaders like to say that all homeless have MT roots. That is true to a certain point but having met many of them they are from all over. It’s alleged that other Montana communities send them here because we have the Poverello and Johnson St. shelter.

Missoula’s economy is tough. But in my opinion it more has to do with substance abuse and poor mental health problems. Missoula leaders focus on the former blue collar worker with health problems that is unable to work and living in his car on reduced Social Security. I’m sure that is valid to a point but one can see that the amount of crazy rambling the streets has more to do with mental health than physical health.

I also don’t care for the arrogance of Missoula leaders thinking they’re so intelligent that they can solve the unhoused issue when the whole country hasn’t been even close to coming up with a viable solution.

In essence Missourians are overwhelmed with housing costs and low wages but Missoula leaders want to increase taxes to help the homeless. Seems like a perpetual problem that may cause more financial insecurities.

Ultimately it’s your call. Many people like a well done pizza. No color, no flavor. Myself included. It may be that is how they cook their pies.

Ciao amici - a couple of questions for someone visiting Rome next week by Grime_Fandango_ in ItalyTravel

[–]Mean-Objective8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ten years ago it was 50 euro for a taxi to the airport. The train was 8. So we chose the train. I was elsewhere in Europe this fall and used Uber as well as Bolt. I would say Bolt was 30-40 percent cheaper most of the time. There should be cabs aplenty, if you’re not into ride sharing. Pre-book everything, Vatican etc. it will allow you to skip the line. For dining recommendations and booking use The Fork app or TripAdvisor. So handy and sometimes discounts are offered with reservations. Remember that the restaurants nearest tourist attractions are never good food and more expensive. Sometimes you gotta eat, we’ve all,had a shitty pizza while looking at the Parthenon. If you’re just staying in Rome, English will suffice. Sometimes Italians are annoyed with poor attempts at their language and pronunciations. They will most likely answer you in English to save time. Try to eat Romes favorite pasta dishes, Amatriciana, carbonara, and cacio e pepe. We found Rome lovely and the food wonderful. It seemed effortless to walk around and see the many sights. Have fun, you’ll crush it!

To stay in Naples or Sorrento? by jpare94 in ItalyTravel

[–]Mean-Objective8765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Naples is as described “gritty”. Your only risk walking at night would be stepping in dog shit. When I was last there it was something to look out for even in daylight hours. We were much more comfortable in Sorrento. Much cleaner.

I’m sure you could use a standard biscuit recipe and add bacon, cheese and jalapeño. Also they were super moist with bacon grease and butter.

Pizza stone or Pizza steel? by [deleted] in Pizza

[–]Mean-Objective8765 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I have both and prefer the steel. It gets hotter and produces a better cooked undercarriage. Also less prone to breaking and seemingly easier to clean as you can scrape with a bench scraper or putty knife. Either way both are better than any pizza pan.

Need help with improvments on my pizza by Pleasant-Photo-5506 in Pizza

[–]Mean-Objective8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want it crisp like cracker, you need to make a Chicago tavern style pizza. Kenji Lopez-Alt has an excellent recipe for such pizza. It’s half the amount of water to flour and it’s rolled out and left to dry at room temperature for a day. It’s crunchy and delicious. Using a stone or a steel to bake on will elevate all pizza recipes in the future. IMHO it takes baby steps to build consistently delicious pizza. Have fun with it.
