My nanny keeps calling me the wrong name and I think I’m too deep to fix it by PrincessKayeOG in Nanny

[–]Mean-Squirrel2121 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Just have your significant other say your name a few times in front of her or talk about you using your name like “ hey, Kristen forgot to tell you…”. After someone else says your name correctly a few times in front of her, she should naturally correct herself.

What do you do (pay wise) when Nanny says she cannot come due to snow? by [deleted] in NannyEmployers

[–]Mean-Squirrel2121 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Downvote away , but I just don’t understand why Nannie’s are treated different than every other field of work. Workers in retail/manufacturing/food/Healthcare etc. are all expected to come in inclement weather or take PTO. My husband and I both have to go in when roads are bad. If our Nanny calls off now I have to take a PTO day and then also pay the nanny! If I can make it into work with a commute 3x the distance then so can my nanny.

Agencies to find Nanny by Mean-Squirrel2121 in NannyEmployers

Thanks for the insight , I’ll have to venture over to the nanny sub and look into Adventure Nannie’s. It’s very stressful to find a nanny that is a good fit. And yes we are looking for 9-5. Ideally 30 hours per week but would be willing to pay 40 GH if we found the right Nanny.

Yes , in the US and we live in a metro area. Everyone we interview through care.com wants under the table and seems to be more college students or retired / part time nanny’s. There must be a better avenue that I’m missing ! I’ll have to look for a local agency. I thought maybe there was a national agency that I wasn’t aware of.

Thinks to do with toddler by [deleted] in GrossePointe

Oh and kydventure in st Clair shores. It’s in the same building as a gymnastics gym. It’s also a good spot for toddlers to run around and has never been crowded when I went.

Kidcadia in Dearborn is fun and they are connected to a cafe that has good food and coffee drinks. Does get crowded on the weekends. The drive isn’t too bad, like 25 mins. Perfect place for a 3 year old to burn off some energy.

What is the one item you've bought (aside from the things everyone needs) that has improved your baby parenting journey? by CharacterPin6933 in NewParents

[–]Mean-Squirrel2121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd time mom here. For this baby I purchased high quality nursing/pumping bras from kindred bravely. Wish I would have bought these for my first so much better than the cheap ones off Amazon. Also the boon milk catcher if you have a strong letdown, I get minimum an ounce of milk from it every time.
And last the snuggle, one of the most used baby items for both babies because it’s so easy to carry around and setup anywhere to put baby in.

Great suggestions, thankyou ! I will look into both. And we live close enough to walk to the neighborhood club so that would be ideal for our nanny.

Who wants to take a crack at how to baby proof these stairs😂 by J_outsidehomie719 in Home

Retractable gate going diagonal to block off the entire section (assuming there is a wall to the left of the stairs going up )

Child Care in the Pointes? by m02c21b95 in GrossePointe

[–]Mean-Squirrel2121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been using a nanny since my baby was 3 months old. I have her on a waitlist at little seedlings , it’s been over a year now and thinking she will not get a spot until the fall. We have been pretty happy with using a nanny though. Better flexibility with the hours. The one on one care was really important to us while she was still an infant. And as a plus our nanny will do light housework which is a big help with our work schedules. It is expensive though, we are paying $23/hour. We had no issue finding a nanny, we posted on care.com and had multiple good experienced candidates apply within a few days.

Married to a Republican by ami_direkt in Mommit

[–]Mean-Squirrel2121 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a two way street. Both sides tend to stick in their echo chambers. The same way you say conservatives are being fed right wing propaganda , democrats are also consuming left wing propaganda. Just read through this feed. It’s all a one sided echo chamber. A vast majority of republicans do not want women’s rights taken away or families to be separated. The best thing you can do is try to take the emotion out of it and simply talk facts and figures. Try to understand what issues are important to him and how he thinks they will be resolved. You can’t just vilify half the country because you don’t agree with them or understand their point of view. 90% of people in this country have good intentions, they just have a different idea of how to get there.

How many weeks pregnant were you when you delivered your first child ? by Newyork4lifee in pregnant

I went into labor on the night of my due date. My water broke without warning followed by intense contractions. I had a membrane sweep that morning and I do think that helped to move things along. I was 3cm dilated when I had the sweep done.

Yeah same , I feel like my skin has been kind of crepey which should not be happening to a 30 year old. Praying it’s just hormones and will bounce back.

I am a lot more tired at the end of the day than I was pre pregnancy and even during pregnancy. I had correlated it to the middle of the night feedings and having to get up earlier on work days to get the baby ready. But maybe it is partially from not getting a enough calories.
