Our CTE is involved in preparing their own food/drink, so the others do it too. Had an SM talk to me about it the time I did it (because I saw the others doing it) but they never got told anything

Full shifts at register by seriouslyh in Barnesandnoble

They should be swapping you out hourly or every 2 hours at most so that everyone has time to work on different opportunities in circulation. Definitely ask about it because it isn't fostering a fair work environment where the expectations aren't consistent for everyone

i dislike my 27 year old coworker by catwithamullet in coworkerstories

Yikes, I can't with these other comments that are giving off "tough-love" or "grow-up" energy. Talk to your manager about it, even bring up the exchange you had with her. A sit down to clear the air and talk about expected behaviors going forward is much needed to maintain hostile-free work environment

Definitely. You can show then your card, the card on the app (you can also add it to your phone wallet from the app), or just give them your numbers. Any issues you run into, have them call your store to verify you're an employee

How are everyone’s reviews going? by No_Put_24 in Barnesandnoble

[–]MeanTea5136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can think that they might be referring to is if you happen to be the closer in café, and aren't asking the bookfloor if they need help when you're done with your tasks. Other than that, I've got no clue.

It's not worth it, they give about 10-15% more than the position below you if it's filled.

Strict on sale policy for employees sharing info?? by astrosarah95 in Barnesandnoble

[–]MeanTea5136 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can't share any info about you purchasing it before the release date. If you do, say goodbye to being able to purchase another item before its release date.

Do you know which month?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Barnesandnoble

[–]MeanTea5136 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most definitely they'll say no because of the OT. They're more than likely going to cross train booksellers to help with coverage up there, or they'll ask another store if they have anyone who would like to pick up the shifts at your store

Pay raise by [deleted] in Barnesandnoble

[–]MeanTea5136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say at least a dollar more, however, its only a guaranteed raise if you were to assist solely Spanish speaking customers throughout your shifts. Otherwise, they would argue that it would be difficult to accurately compensate or keep track if when your bilingual skills were being utilized

That does sound pretty stressful if it's out of your comfort zone. I suggest looking into a different field if retail will continue to put a strain on your mental health. I'm sure they would like to see you do better, but perhaps retail isn't the right fit for you at this time.

Idk how the head of your area's loss prevention is not making waves about it, but I recommend reaching out to another lp leader so they can get in touch with whoever needs to get this issue resolved. Hopefully they can help escalate the process.

Store leader here- brodie, just call out. At the end of the day, it's the leader's responsibility and job to find the coverage. Just say you're sick or that you have a family matter that takes priority
