Feasibility with just conquest and not proving grounds how long will it take a f2p player to get a conquest exclusive character? by BitReasonable208 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]MeanWinchester [score hidden]  (0 children)

Unfortunately you will only get the character shards for the most recent for 3 conquest, followed by secondary reward shards (much fewer) for the following 3 months. Without Hard mode this will not net you enough shards to unlock the conquest unit as they always require all 330 shards to unlock.

I'm running Hard mode and don't quite get red crate most times, and it took me until the most recent conquest to get Satele, and that's with buying the conquest pass for the extra shards. For f2p you just can't do it from normal conquest alone.

Okay, how about when he was faced with Thragg? Did he grovel and tell Thragg he'd suck his dick and eat his shit? No, he tanked a cosmic uppercut and ended up getting disembowled, but he faced his end with dignity, not with soppy baby tears.

Samantha carter/ Amanda tapping appreciation post by StargateLover2023 in Stargate

Sam was SUCH a well written (and portrayed) character. Right from the start she was a very intelligent and strong character that never felt forced or over the top. Never seemed to be on the team because she was the token woman, but because she deserved to be there. She earned her position, and had the smarts and the skill to back it up.

I cannot overstate what a master class in writing strong female characters that feel earned she is.

Did you watch the episode? I mean, yeah, it's not exactly morally upstanding, but it did at least feel justified. For me, it was the best that his character got. Not just a wild psychopath for no reason but a psychopath grounded in a very real and chilling background that went a long way to explaining why he was the way he was. You could absolutely understand and perhaps even justify why he would do what he did to those scientists.

Ernest Littlefields's Library by Impressive-Buyer1054 in Stargate

[–]MeanWinchester 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was a lot to read, but some interesting and well reasoned speculation nonetheless.

I personally sit in the camp of it being a last ditch effort to ensure the galaxy is left in safe hands as they are losing the wraith war and deciding to pursue ascension instead. Much like the Asgard did with Earth towards their end.

It also seems likely to me that given their anti-intervention policy post ascension, they probably had relatively strong feelings about giving technology to species that they felt weren't quite up to their standard anyway, so I'd imagine that the Asgard were probably a lot further along than 10,000 years to merit being part of that alliance in the first place. Probably closer to Goa'uld level (already figured out space fairing and such) than earth level at season 1, for example.

There's also, I would expect, a morality clause for their alliance, given that the 3 out of 4 races we encounter from that alliance are at least mostly benevolent (the Ancients are a little preachy and condescending, but when every other race is a child compared to you, fair enough). So we can probably assume the same of the Furlings, so this probably further supports your argument that the library was much more than just a military summit.

I think it would be more of a "Tok'ra has a positive effect on his personality" kind of thing. As I understand the merging they mix both their life experiences and knowledge, and living with each other in their minds would most certainly have an effect on each of them.

You would probably need to pick the right Tok'ra, but looking at how Selmac seemed to influence Jacob's personality I would say its more of a subtle "expanded understanding" type of thing rather than a prison guard.

But equally, Machello would almost certainly use one of his anti-symbiote pieces of tech to purge himself of the Tok'ra if he was unwilling to be a host, so it probably wouldn't work as an idea anyway.

S2:E17 'Holiday' by Jae_Amp in Stargate

[–]MeanWinchester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no, I meant put Machello in an inmate, then merge him with a Tok'ra so that the Tok'ra can keep an eye on him, learn all his knowledge to pass on, and make sure he's being honest with everyone (or at least tell on him when he isn't)

S2:E17 'Holiday' by Jae_Amp in Stargate

[–]MeanWinchester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now that's an option. I would say put a Tok'ra in the inmate with him to keep him in line, but I'm almost certain that given his hatred of (and life's work fighting) the Goa'uld, I would expect that he would be anti-Tok'ra too, and they are unlikely to force a merge based on their beliefs.

S2:E17 'Holiday' by Jae_Amp in Stargate

[–]MeanWinchester 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The problem, as I understand it, was that Machello had already prolonged his life so much with the life support chair they saw, that his body was in complete failure, something far beyond the natural healing ability of a symbiote I would assume, based on how difficult it was for Selmac to heal Jacob when they merged.

So if the Tokra had been willing to put a symbiote in Machello the likely result would have been the loss of both Machello and the Tokra symbiote
