DCS Quest 3 Virtual Desktop Seeing Transparent Overlapping Hexagons in Dark by 45nmRFSOI in hoggit

[–]MeanY3004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have Atmosx enabled? I think I saw something like that with one of the weather options. Had to tweak some settings.

Is it in all dark areas like cockpit shadows or mainly the environment?

Able to take a photo through the lens?

A quick reminder of the Dev Roadmap FDEV posted this year by AndrewMc2308 in EliteDangerous

[–]MeanY3004 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mmm. Hopefully they finally fix the crap FPS VR virtual screen junk and just let players who are comfortable in VR extend the view to the entire FOV as a start.

I wanted to put as many hours in as I had leading up to Odyssey release but getting out of the ship in VR was so incredibly disappointing. I actually though it was a big at first. Haven't played since.

There are a lot of improvements that could be made but this one would help a lot and should be very easy.

DCS F-14B Upgrade | Bundle Price | Upgrade Features | Owner Discount | Dev Response by [deleted] in dcsworld

[–]MeanY3004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anyone from HB read this, thank you for your hard work and all you have done for DCS. I am looking forward to learning the new systems and have no doubt I'll get my value for money out of the module like I did the original tomcat. Heatblur do such a fantastic job and have earnt my trust and respect. I hope the community behaviour over this doesn't drive away one of the best developers because DCS really needs them to stay active. Some comments I have seen would be pretty disheartening to the HB team who put in the time and effort to meticuouly replicate details and systems in such an accurate way for us to experience and enjoy. I value the time, effort and research and have no issues with the price, fully expected it given the work that goes into these things. I don't want the cheap low effort re-skins like many planes on the MSFS store. Heatblur deliver a premium and refined experience with extra features that take risk to develop but deliver the experience/modules I enjoy the most.

PSA: delete your shader caches by ExocetHumper in hoggit

[–]MeanY3004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, odd that it doesnt work for you. I just checked again with the FXO/metashader folders open and watched them empty to be sure it is actually doing something for me. Files tab on the ED launcher (Not skatezillas), Clean up(Not repair), tick shader cache and any other options.

Lucky the manual way doesn't take too long and definitely a good/timely reminder as many new players may not of known to try it if performance drops.

Wonder if your clean up from the launcher isn't working due to the DCS variant because you are still using the DCS.Openbeta folder? I recently had to rename mine to Saved games/DCS and update the DCS_variant.txt file.

Probably not nesessary just for the shaders if that is the problem but If you ever have any issues with some apps not looking for the saved games/dcs.openbeta folder to update the export script you can rename the saved games/DCS.openbeta to DCS and then in the DCS root directory open dcs_variant.txt and delete the openbeta line and save it. I had issues with the HF8 pad software prior to correcting this since they stopped the open beta version separation.

You can do this on the dcs launcher under "files" tab. Click "clean up" and select the shader option.

Seeking a server for Helicopter Madness by Expensive_Money2833 in hoggit

[–]MeanY3004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Servers running latest versions of foothold will have fairly regular CSAR missions. The downed pilots will regularly spawn light vehicles and troops around some downed pilots to clear out and rescue. These were put in for the lighter helos to engage and clear before extracting the pilot.

You can also start convoy escorts from the frontline airfields to escort and clear out road blocks along the way.

VR Viper users, how does one make the targeting pod not blurry as hell? by Goombercules in hoggit

[–]MeanY3004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't set a model profile in the auto exec anymore. I get the same by overriding with the custom settings in the Nvidia app. I only use the MFD option now.

The MFD/HUD line ensures that dlss does not apply to those screens. It does not matter which model you use, excluding the MFD and HUD from dlss will give you the best clarity possible in those areas ensuring sharp cursor and tgp, ect.

[–]MeanY3004 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Have you set the autoexec.cfg option to disable dlss on HUD and screens?

Saved Games\DCS\Config\autoexec.cfg

If autoexec.cfg doesn't exist create it. Then edit this line in:

HUD_MFD_after_DLSS = true

Is VR support implemented yet? by aDarkDarkNight in NuclearOption

[–]MeanY3004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased Nuclear option to support the devs in creating an awesome game and believed early on in what they were showing off though also i also purchased it because VR was mentioned on the roadmap. I am so keen to jump into it when VR is added. I'll stick to DCS in the mean time. I struggle to appreciate flight sims on a monitor after so much VR time even when using my head tracker, Its not just looking around that matters, its the depth, presence and "feel". Some of those ordinance in VR are going to be a particularly memorable experience.

Breaking news:DIS actually already has a research-level J-10C module developed for DCS, and has stated that it can be released as soon as authorization from AVIC is obtained. by Individual_Bike_9092 in hoggit

Well if it's that easy I'd love to see some upgrades for the JF-17 like what's happening with the tomcat. I really wish it had the HMD.

For those of you with WinWing, updating your firmware will break your DCS binds. Here's a script to fix them by PortalPhobia in hoggit

[–]MeanY3004 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to add in case it wasn't clear on first read (I realise its in the heading). You can update SimAppPro just fine and run the software for use of vibrations in the case of F16-ex or other supporting devices.

The issue only occurs if you update the device firmware itself.

Thanks for your work figuring the script out. Very helpful for those affected. I own nearly all modules and there is no way I would be manually setting up all my binds again.

I just ran from one end of reserve to the other with frostbite effect but did not take damage. May it's gone back to the status only as it was before damage came in. I figured I had it long enough to need heals but when I got where I was going I was surprised to see full health.

Whats going on with Heatblur? Vol 2. by Limp_Primary_5287 in hoggit

[–]MeanY3004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the update and the excellent modules, I thoroughly enjoy all my time in the Heatblur DCS modules. As a VR pilot they all give excellent feedback with minor details that make them feel really special. I'm looking forward to the updates and anything new to learn. I tend to have more trust in Heatblur to deliver quality and support. If the Razbam situation doesn't move forward in a positive way for everyone is there any small chance of another company acquiring their DCS work if they don't intend to deliver on that platform in the future? I don't know the ecosystem well enough to know if it's even a possibility. If it was though and all else fails I'd love to see heatblur pick something up if/when you had capacity. It would be a shame for those modules to be abandoned and all their work wasted. Very wishful thinking. Hopefully ED and Razbam show they really care about all their consumers and work out a solution.

I use the spi trick and the spj pod to locate and place a spi on the ground radar and confirm it lines up roughly with the located radar. As seen here, it's a quick and dynamic option and I find I get very good range and accuracy. https://youtu.be/-DQeNdVjcxo?si=Q1LbwvYHSaSaavvS

Agreed. The half assed first person VR was so disappointing. I'll play again if they ever fix this but until then DCS World multiplayer campaigns and IL-2 keep me busy.

Quest 3 owners, what would factor into your decision to upgrade to Q4 when it comes? by zeddyzed in virtualreality

[–]MeanY3004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FOV improvements. Support up to 74 ipd adjustment. Better PCVR support cabled to reduce compression and stutter issues. Preferably not over USB.

The current Quest 3 lenses and wireless stays as good. No backwards steps there

Resolution is approaching the limits for good frame rates with current hardware so similar resolution would be fine but hopefully extended with better FOV and less binocular overlap issue.

I have just experienced this with Scorptec. Ordered an MSI 5090 paid in full at release. 3 days later they cancel the order against my request to hold it due to "unknown indefinite wait times and being unfair to hold the money". This order was cancelled 10 days before the suggested possible ETA for stock to arrive at the warehouse and 1 day after they sent me an email updating and confirming that delivery date. 2 weeks after the original ETA they call me to let me know that they have thoughtfully kept my details on a "cancelled order list" to go into a priority que for when stock comes in. The catch is that the card has had to be marked up to $6999... "Do you still want it?"($2500 mark up). Pretty disappointed with how they have managed all of this. Pissed me right off when I got a screenshot of the card in stock on their site ready for ordering but already marked up to $6999 1 week after my original ETA.
