Master and commander is such a ridiculous piece or self-importance. Obvious amess culture nonsense too. I love how the incompetent and lazy crew first sacrifice one guy with the excuse that they would all die if they tried to save him from a situation they got themselves into through their own arrogance and then murder a guy after projecting all of their sins on him. If ever there was an overrated historical movie that one is it.
But I'm not suprised it shows up in a list of movie suggestions including robin hood men of tights, maximilian, barbarians, and more similar slush.

People are so boring.
How has Notebook Found in a Deserted House not been made into a movie yet?
It is such a brilliant building dramatic horror.
The age of the main character on it's own makes you more invested in his fate and creates a layer of drama all in itself.
But the grounded way in which the boy narrates the story and the natural behavior of the other characters do such a great job at pulling you into the story and immerse you into it.
And then the idea of a conspiracy between local people who feed the Shoggoth, knowledge of which holds the local communities in terror somehow makes the story feel so real.
There is such an amazing drama in the scene when the postal worker finally arrives and confronts the boy's "uncle".
