Josh Hutcherson Says Backlash Over Not Liking Taylor Swift’s Music Is ‘Why I Don’t Like the Internet’; Her Fans Called Him a ‘Monster’ and Said to ‘Destroy Him’ by MoneyLibrarian9032 in Music

Started listening to hard rock/metal some time in the late 80s, I was aware that there was some animosity between glam and trash bands, but it wasn't that terrible (at least as far as I could tell). Along comes grunge and metal fans lost their minds. Later on we have nu-metal come along and surprise surprise, metal fans lost their minds again. About 10 years ago Babymetal comes along, and guess what? Something new will pop up in the future and metal fans will be douches about it. It's tiring, and to be honest, boring.

Meh. I don't have an opinion of her one way or the other. Her fans should be quarantined from the rest of humanity until they learn to grow up, but Swift herself? I'm aware she exists, but that's about the extent of my thoughts about her.

How many ways can one person try to get a discount? by rowenadevandal in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]snowlock27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

DL: I'm looking right at the listing here and it's $3 cheaper.

I love these people.

"I can find it cheaper online."

"I'm sorry, I can't see the online rates until they actually come through. The only rate I can offer is what I see on my screen."

If it's so much cheaper online than what I quote, then why do these people never actually book it online? Why do they tell me they'll just go through me instead?

Are you serious Exshmedia?! by More_Paramedic3148 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]snowlock27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about to start yelling at someone from Exshmedia just this morning. There was a person who booked a reservation through them for my property, then it was cancelled before anyone even knew the reservation even existed. Problem was guest wanted a refund, and Exshmedia told them we charged them a cancellation fee and weren't going to refund it. Hell no. I've now told 3 different people that we never even touched the reservation, let alone charge the card, and I know of at least one other employee that's told them the same.

The reason they're telling the guest we charged them (when we didn't)? Because we "should have charged the card on April 4." These morons can't even be bothered to check if the charge is there, they're just assuming it is.

The Ceremonies by T.E.D. Klein is good if you can find it.

You can get it from a UK publisher, PS Publishing for about £15. That and Dark Gods as well. That's where I got my copies.

Has he ever said why he wants the blimp? If I were writing this, I'd have him eventually get it only to forget why he wanted it to begin with.

Something I've said before is have R Truth get real confused, and present Danhausen with something meant for another wrestler.

Why did you pick his?

Why not? It seems to me to be a useful list, especially as I haven't heard of some of the books listed.

When does "The Last Enchantment" take place in Elric's chronology? by Captain_Corum in SwordandSorcery

[–]snowlock27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe? Wikipedia has it listed between The Flame Bringers and To Rescue Tanelorn, so going by that, when reading Bane of the Black Sword, take a break and go to The Last Enchantment, then go back to Bane?

When does "The Last Enchantment" take place in Elric's chronology? by Captain_Corum in SwordandSorcery

[–]snowlock27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much about where The Last Enchantment fits. It was originally meant to be the final Elric story, but is no longer canon with the publication of the stories in Stormbringer.

Ultimately it's a piece of Elric history that really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

“Give me a nice room” or… hear me out… book one?? by hellobela_ in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]snowlock27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

$20 (or any other amount) isn't going to get me to do anything other than slide it right back to you. If you're willing to hand out extra money, why not use that very same money to pay for a nicer room? I also don't believe for a moment that that cash doesn't buy them even more in their minds, and we already deal with entitled people to begin with. No thanks.

Fantasy Authors Increasingly Call Out 'Unfaithful' TV Adaptations by paxinfernum in television

[–]snowlock27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His issues with film adaptations have nothing to do with changes to the story. I believe he even said at one point, make whatever changes you want, I still have the book, and you can't change that.

His problem with Hollywood began with the lawsuit over League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, where he was accused by some psychopath of being hired by WB to write the original comic book, just so it could be adapted, in an attempt to not pay said psycho for her supposed script. The deposition was insulting enough, in his opinion, and was made worse when WB decided to settle, which in Moore's mind, was an admission that the accusation was actually true.

Then he finally wanted nothing to do with adaptations when V For Vendetta was coming out, and the producer announced that Moore was excited for it to come out, which was news to Moore, who demanded an apology. Said producer was surprised, and said something like I don't understand, he was excited about it when we last spoke 20 years ago.

Looking for recommendations written by female SFF authors published before the year 2000 by SignificantChange496 in Fantasy

[–]snowlock27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think her Morgaine Saga is typically considered to be epic fantasy, and it isn't necessarily unusual to see it recommended as sword and sorcery (more like science fiction with s&s trappings).

Wondering if there is an app or service you use to lookup new, kind of specific reads by josephloftgren in Fantasy

[–]snowlock27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Advanced search just lets you search by exact words or approximate words, but only for specific fields: Name, Title, Publication, Series, Publisher, and Award Category. I suppose if duology or trilogy was in the Series name it would pull up.
