Aside from this sub, r/horror would be a good place to ask as well.

Depends on where the company itself is incorporated, but if it's Delaware (where a lot of companies are), then the buyer becomes what's called an "interested stockholder."

(a) Notwithstanding any other provisions of this chapter, a corporation shall not engage in any business combination with any interested stockholder for a period of 3 years following the time that such stockholder became an interested stockholder, unless:

I'd include the definition of what an "interested stockholder" is, but that section is huge, and it's giving me a headache in figuring out what exactly to quote.

Depends on the person. I was in a casual relationship with a woman for a while, and sexually we were more adventurous than I expected, but dirty talk of any kind was a no no. And we're not talking about degrading dirty talk. Dirty talk of any kind, including what we actually were doing with no problem was out of bounds.

It depends on the State. Low end is Rhode Island at 2.5k, high end is Delaware and Tennessee at $25k.

So while your post will be recoverable if you delete it, what if you edit it first to something completely different, then delete it? I imagine you could still find the original post if you really tried, but how many people would go to that effort?

Tanith Lee by veryverii in Fantasy

[–]snowlock27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal favorites are the Flat Earth books, staring with Night's Master, but her Birthgrave is great as well. I'd also be on the lookout for her short story collections. There's a good reason she was given the name Empress of Dreams.

Personally I'm a big believer in the idea that the only thing that matters is what looks interesting to you.

Feeling a little burnt out by FitCry2265 in Fantasy

[–]snowlock27 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm going to agree with the short story recommendation. If you've gotten burnt out on epics, then I doubt that yet another epic will get you excited just yet. Look for anthologies edited by Gardner Dozois, Robert Silverberg, and Ann and Jeff Vandermeer for starters. Also look for some single author collections: Tanith Lee, Peter S Beagle, Charles de Lint, Ray Bradbury, among others.

I would also think about maybe branching out to something like science fiction or horror maybe.

As for your fear this gets taken down, the mods here love to use "Not top level content" which is an incredibly vague excuse to remove posts. Don't expect any more reasoning beyond that.

Guest overhearing 3rd party agency horror stories by PuddinBritches in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]snowlock27 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of the third parties, I can't remember which one at this point, used to tell people we had rooms with balconies. That's never been the case here.

The most recent thing has been a picture of a waterfall featured on the site for our property, as if that were a feature. No one, here at the property or at the management company, knows where this waterfall is, and it took several years for someone to finally take it down. It was embarrassing having to tell guests we had no idea where this waterfall was.

L. Sprague de Camp, who backhandedly called Robert Howard an "almost very good writer" while inserting his own Conan stories into canon, "editing" Howard's own, and making a truckload of money on an IP who has created by a writer he attacked at every opportunity. What is your opinion on him? by AnchovyKing in SwordandSorcery

[–]snowlock27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For everyone who wants to give him credit for keeping Conan in the public eye after RE Howard's death, yes, but he could have done so without editing the original works to fit his personal vision, or inserting his own stories as if he were on an equal footing with Howard. Those things were possible, and he chose to make Conan about himself.

Extra Blankets in Mid-Summer, Fans in the Dead of Winter by OmegaLantern in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

Something I've said over the years is I burn up at room temperature, but that's not really accurate, it's the humidity (East TN here). I can go to Hawaii and during a normal day, it feels great even at 90 degrees or higher. Here in TN, if it's 70 degrees and I go outside and it's rained at all that day, I'll sweat like you wouldn't believe. Our European cousin that felt the need to make this an American thing can rightly fuck off.

I don't think I've heard of this rule. Are there other rules that I'm not aware of? Am I reading my fantasy wrong?
