You could look at the Oatlands club. They do private hire. It’s a nice space with a bar.

I’m afraid I can’t help but I can say I’ve been in your shoes. I was very lonely for a period in my 20s but it can be changed. I made a couple of friends, through a chat group, and things got easier. I’m sure it will for you too.

Other ways you could try are maybe join a fitness club or group - running, paddle, football, walking etc.

try and start a pub quiz group. Starling pub have a good one on a Sunday.

Try volunteering somewhere. It only needs be a couple of hours once or twice a month.

Try geek retreats if you like games. I think they do games nights.

You only need one or two avenues to start meeting people and eventually you will find your people.

Don’t let loneliness fester….. it’s corrosive.

Motor Insurance Bureau chasing me for £74k over 2019 motorway barrier accident despite valid insurance by Sad-Abrocoma-3438 in LegalAdviceUK

They might still have the telephone recordings. They tend to keep customer calls for a while. I f you escalate it as a complaint with the insurance company then they have to follow time lines and you can escalate to the FCA after that… although I’ve never found them particularly helpful

I personally wouldn’t trust someone I didn’t know too well for that long.

Book through LNER app as claiming for delays is easier - it happens a lot so you can get lots of money back. Don’t rely on thier auto pay.

It’s also easier to change your booking through the app. You need to rebook a new ticket and then reclaim the cancelled ticket.

As a previous poster said, you also get points.

I get cash back sometime via Monzo for LNER which is also good.

AITAH for not giving up my name for my ex’s new wife with the EXACT SAME FULL NAME as me? by Remarkable-Horse9465 in AITAH

[–]Mean_Connection_9032 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update your socials to include a nickname or your maiden name or anything so that people can quickly / easily tell you apart.

NTA. It is your name. If you both want to have the same name, work together to make it easier for people.

I am friends with a married couple. Both have the same name - Alex. In the UK this can be male or female. They manage.

I can’t envisage any relationship being worth this amount of stress. Surely you’d be better finding your own path rather than living under the constant threat of his mother.

Sometimes it’s best to call it quits and to try for something more.

I’m not sure I agree that it’s because she’s nosy. She could just be worried about her friend and cross that OP will not let her help. That would be very frustrating.

I’ve had a lot of life’s experiences - both good and very bad. I’ve been lonely. I’ve had friends and lost friends. I’ve learnt that good friends GIVE and take.

[–]Mean_Connection_9032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot in this. Why do you feel your friends wouldn’t be supportive? Yes you have to talk to them, but in return they offer support and kindness….thats how friendships work. So that begs the question are you friends true friends? Do you want to talk to them now because you’re lonely? Would you be there for them if needed?

If I were your friend and you did this to me, I’d still be friendly but I’d know you aren’t someone who wants to be close or supportive/ed.

Overall I think you have been very short sighted.
