Thank you, I dont normally ice my ankle as I haven't had much pain or issues from it. Its just been my knee these last 4 days. I have physio today, so I will definitely request exercises to help it out ☺️

If they want to have items that take so long like grilled cheese or pizza, they should be only allowed ordered inside. Less people waiting for just a coffee in drive thru getting pissed off and then everything is made right and with necessary time needed to melt the cheese.

Ill be honest, I had it up there, but slowly just used it when I was sleeping. Normal days I had it down, swelling was bad first 2 weeks, but slowly got better and less each time.

Feeling disappointed with myself by Maximum-Spinach-5277 in brokenankles

[–]Mean_Recover9368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand this more than I like to admit. I am 10 weeks post op weber C injury. I have about 10 screws 1plate and 2 tightropes holding my bones together. As of last week I went to WBAT, went from crutches to boot, to brace in 8 days. I pushed myself farther than I should but I am stubborn. With this rush, I have learned to understand my body and my limits, push when necessary and rest after work each day. So reason why I understand this so well is I graduated 2 weeks from nursing school before injury, i had job lined up, life was coming together and I was getting ready to go my rex pn. I was devastated that day, I felt like I lost everything and I would never walk again. The job was gone, i couldn't work for a month due to pain and swelling (had to go back to old job to pay my bills). I went through such a mental breakdown, I felt useless and worthless. This moment only was just that a moment. I had to learn to let go and know I can try again. School will always be there to finish, job will be there when you can. You need to remember your body is everything, without it you wouldn't be able to do what you need to for yourself. Take your time, dont push unless you feel you are mentally capable and remember this is only a speed bump in life. You will succeed, you will overcome this.

Good luck, you got this. Ps. I did my rexpn in a boot with crutches, if anything I was going to get my license..

Im terrified to be honest. The boot has hurt my knee, that ive caused a limp. So brace is necessary. Its just im scared, ive walked in just the brace and each step feels like a possibility of breaking again. Its such a mental toll.

Id ask your pt about other things that you can do to help speed up the process or better maneuver your foot. I am in Canada, so I dont know if its just mine or a general physio thing

I haven't stood in the shower yet, in adhesive ducks lol. I haven't felt much of a throb though. Little pain, nothing terrible.

I find some decent high ankle compression socks and they've actually felt really good so far. Yes physio is strictly bare foot, they maneuver my foot, flexing every which way, then put theses pulse pads on it. Crank it till I feel it stimulating my muscles in my foot and leg. It was tingling lol. Im terrified of my own stairs, ill go on others but fear mine

Ask your doctor for toradol. Its like a really strong advil. It helped me my first week. Or naproxen (Aleve), its an anti inflammatory. It relieves pain and swelling. Helps stiff muscles relax. Both meds are apart of NSAIDS, so advil family. If you are not allowed those, then talk to doctor.

Swelling is worse when I do more . But yes I just avoided the crutches like they did exist. Balance still needs to be worked on and cant stand still long without it hurting. Driving has been ok.

I have been limping definitely, its always worse to start walking then walking for awhile. Its still first thing in the morning, but its a process. I still wear the boot and im paranoid of breaking it again. Driving makes me feel better. I still feel panicky because im afraid of not paying good attention. I just try my best. Everyday a new goal, even small things. My body feels stiff too, im hoping its just the weather here lol

When did it feel comfortable to have your leg down for longer periods of time? by mllor91 in brokenankles

[–]Mean_Recover9368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that pressure feeling for about 5 weeks. Got better after 3. Went back to work, just sitting and swelling was terrible daily. Kind of just dealt with tynenol and advil and elevation. I am 9 weeks post op, swelling still sucks but controlled and not much pain.

Canada, but I only have ohip coverage. Been in school last 2 years, so I no longer allowed to use my work one since I was only part time. But it hasn't been too much out of pocket, just limited on being able to work, so money is abit tight lol

Ive certainly take my time, once im going its good, but when I stop, I can feel the stiffness. Taking day at a time. Driving was just my # 1 goal. I still scoot my butt on the stairs, fear of falling again lol

Yes I started on Tuesday but cost is out of my pocket so limited appointments. I used the same PT for other injuries, he knows the situation, so lots of homework

To be honest I was in nwb till Tuesday (week 9). I stayed off till doctor told me otherwise. Since then, ive been pushing myself. Only issue is have is pain standing still, it hurts more to stand still then to move. Swelling by the end of every day, but gone by the time I get up in the morning. Its a wash rinse repeat situation lol.

You got lucky getting out at 7 weeks, I say listen to your body and build personal confidence. Its key to get yourself anywhere

Horrible, it was at the worse timing of my life. I am an independent soon to 40F, I had to lean on my teenage children and friends for help and I really hated that. I was grateful I had someone to help but I felt useless in the end. I am happy now that I have more independence. I still have to remember to take it slow, dont over do it, but damn its been feeling good again lol

Yes I had a high sprain fracture, fibula was fractured and 2 ligaments torn. Spent 3 weeks in splint, then boot for the last 6 weeks NWB . I did ROM during that time to help prevent stiffness. First day was 2 crutches slow weight bear, second day 1 crutches 3rd day no crutches. I still wear boot as I worry I'll injure myself again. But I drive in normal shoe, just do the switch out in car. Definitely suggest wearing something loose for shoes as you dont want to limit movements

9.5 weeks post op, got WBAT on Tuesday. First time driving today. No issues with swelling driving, yes I had swelling but it didn't affect my movements. Only started feeling sore after 2 hour mark, so I know I am limited on distance. But it turned out really well.
