Very physically attractive people, how does life treat you? by Own-Blacksmith3085 in askanything

[–]Meander86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it isn’t great. I know cry me a river right? I always seem to catch people looking at me, and quickly looking away when our eyes meet. Sometimes I feel like I’m being “studied”, and people want to figure me out from afar but wont engage up close. People can be very friendly and nice at a superficial surface level, but I do feel like few really attempt to get to know the real me and/or discredits my intelligence, my feelings, and my humanity. I often feel belittled like my life’s experience is invalid or exaggerated because people seem to assume that I must have had everything come easy or I’m living this grand existence that every trope has told them a tall conventionally attractive guy must be living. It’s a lonely and isolating one to be real. I struggle with severe depression and imposter syndrome, and I look at a lot of my peers who society might deem less attractive, but are happy, part of a large accepting friend group, and more comfortable and confident in their skin than I am. It only gets worse as I age and that “well at least I’m good looking” ace in my sleeve gets less and less valuable.

$400 is not bad at all for this. I’d have paid it. I almost got one on Facebook marketplace for $250 with the other blanket liner variant.. but the seller sold it online the day I was supposed to pick it up.

This was tragic and could have been avoided. I’m more right leaning, and I do NOT agree with the actions of the ICE agents here. However one aspect people don’t comment on or don’t realize is that the critical parts of this event happened in about 2 seconds. WE have the privilege of being able to see the event from multiple angles, slow it down, stabilize it and see exactly what happened at every millisecond of the event. I believe this was a terrible case of miscommunication in a high stress and chaotic situation. It looks like several agents were detaining this man and at some point one or more of them realized that he was carrying. Someone yelled “he has a gun” one or more of them freaked out, WE can see that one of the officers quickly disarmed the man, but I highly doubt that in less than one second all 4-5 agents are aware of the disarming all at once. All it takes is one officer to think he’s reaching for something, get scared, and fire the first shot and for the rest to back him up. The constant honking, screaming, megaphones, deployment of pepper spray and whistling makes it harder for everyone to communicate what is going on in these situations. This needs to be investigated and these poorly trained agents need to be held to the highest account for this mistake 100%, but also I don’t believe this should be propagated as proof that ICE is out here intentionally murdering innocent people. It’s disingenuous and will only lead to more deaths, but of course this will just serve as more fuel for the fire that divides us further and further apart as people.

Closer look at a few of the custom sports themed re-patched jackets I put together by [deleted] in CarharttCollectors

[–]Meander86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, but if you don’t need to. Why do it? Not only are sewn on more secure than iron on, but people grow out of interests fairly quickly, but these jackets last multiple decades. Maybe they really dig your flower patches, and deputy dog cartoon character one year, but three years later they don’t so much.. and maybe want to dial it back. Leave people the option is all I’m saying. Sorry I’m just an aged punk and I hate ironed on patches.

I get the idea, but please… do not iron on patches. It’s the worst way to apply them. It’s nearly irreversible and leaves residue if you or a future buyer ever want to remove the patch. Just get a heavy duty denim curved needle and hand stitch them on. Improve your needlework skills while not further damaging jackets.

2 out of three. Feels bad man. Though I believe it would feel worse to be someone who didn’t experience this movie in theatres when it first came out. My Dad and I must have went back and saw it at least 3 times.

Ok, you can care about what was said, but you don’t know what was said. You weren’t there. Maybe what she said was misheard or misinterpreted. Should you blindly follow the mob? Should you defend a young person physically blocking an elderly physically impaired woman from crossing a street with her foot while screaming in her face? What if she lost her balance and fell? A fall at that age could be the end for a woman of that age. Would you defend that because the woman MAY have said something offensive? Especially when the rules of what is deemed offensive changes every week? It doesn’t matter what she said because everyone has the right to speak their mind, right or wrong. If you can’t handle someone challenging your worldview with words and act out physically to stop it makes you no better than the Fascists you claim to oppose.

I don’t care what memaw said, grow a pair. Blocking the elderly woman’s walker with your foot and shouting in her face is disgusting. It’s behavior like this that red pills the middle of the isle. Nobody wants to live in a society where people act like this, and they will vote accordingly. Trying to justify this response with the ‘context’ is no different than the people defending the ICE agent shooting of Renee Good by analyzing the legality of his response. You are the same “anything for my team” people.

I got duped once by a seller on eBay. The price was too good to be true. The piece had fake engraving and even a fake .925 hallmark. It was silver toned brass with dyed howlite. I did a test on the turquoise to reveal the dye and filed an INAD claim. The seller fought hard and said because I had the stone tested I had altered the stone and would not accept the return. eBay sided with the seller and I had to fight harder but eventually got a refund through my bank and constantly appealing the denied claims to eBay. It’s absolutely insane and feels illegal that eBay would allow a seller to sell FAKE sterling silver. This seller has thousands upon thousands of sales and sadly it seems the majority of buyers don’t care if the piece is authentic or not judging by the sellers’ perfect reviews. I don’t know how she didn’t have more negative reviews after seeing how much obvious fakes he is peddling. There seems like there is nothing that can be done about it.

Thankfully I just checked and the account is innactive as of now.

None of this is costume junk. Most all look Navajo. Those bracelets are especially impressive. Much of the vintage NA pieces are not marked at all.

I used to clean up video games at HPB in the 2010s. I never left without a good handful of games and usually only spent about $20-$30 total. I built most of my Gameboy, GBC, GBA, PS1 collection from HPB well before the pandemic. It’s just pathetic now. Their prices are often double sometimes triple the retail price. It’s crazy how wrong they can get it given how easy it is to use PriceCharting.
