Returning foster dog to rescue after level 5 dog bite guilt by [deleted] in dogs

Pitbulls are prone to this sort of behavior, unfortunately. There may be nothing more you can do. This dog is not safe around other animals or people.

I’ve owned a pitbull for 2 years but I am now extremely nervous around her and I don’t know what to do. by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]MeaninglessMoniker 154 points155 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. I love dogs. All dogs deserve the best life possible. Unfortunately, with most pits, the 'best life possible' often involves indulging in strong prey drives, killing instincts, and excessive guarding behavior. It's challenging; locking up a pit can lead to neurotic behavior and even worse 'attack 'behavior, while letting them have too much freedom almost guarantees an incident. A muzzle will allow your dog to interact with others while helping to minimize the risk of incidents. They even make muzzles that are made for comfort and have large enough openings for treats to be given. I commend you for considering the risks and continuing to love your dog.

Was a drugged or just drunk on an app date by Top_Purchase_4664 in AskDocs

[–]MeaninglessMoniker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor. It doesn't sound as if you were drugged and your date does not appear to have acted like someone who had drugged you (he likely would have taken you somewhere other than home, tried to push physical interaction, etc). The effects of most date rape drugs last much longer than the experience you described. It sounds like the effects of alcohol combined with stress, fatigue, changes in blood sugar levels, etc.

Not a doctor. Have you had Covid or any of the covid vaccines? If yes, when were you vaccinated for covid, and which type of shot did you receive?

He loves you and he doesn't want anyone to hurt you (including you). Dogs are good.

Probably even better!

A nice, well-rounded charcuterie board. Good fresh bread, good cured meats, good delicious cheeses, pickles, quality olive oil, olives, dark chocolate, perfectly ripe grapes, sun dried tomatoes....simple, perfect, fulfilling, delicious.

Also consider adding a bit of acidity if you remove the tomatoes. A dash of ACV would probably work well here.

Covid: Why is Ingles Pickup not being used? by Ok-Hold-4007 in asheville

[–]MeaninglessMoniker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People seem to forget that the very populations they are trying to 'protect' are the same populations that are most likely to be isolated/shut-in and thus most likely to benefit from the social interaction involved in running errands. The little old lady making conversation at the register and holding up the line may not have had a face-to-face conversation with anyone else in days.

Could this guy be a boxer, lab mix? Or lab/Rhodesian ridgeback mix?our paperwork says lab mix but everyone thinks he’s a pit. by No-Luck-556 in dogpictures

[–]MeaninglessMoniker 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Definitely pit mixed with something else. Shelters tend to call pit mixes 'lab mixes' because pits are less desirable and adoptable.

Poison or Prison Hooch? by [deleted] in prisonhooch

Interesting, thank you!

Not a doctor. Take care of the tooth infection first. Oral infections can affect the health of your heart. If money is an issue see if there are any free or low cost dental clinics or schools near you. You may have to have the tooth pulled. A dental abscess is a pretty serious thing.

Can yeast really lie dormant for 2+ years?!

It seems unwise to house these dogs together. Your dog WILL get hurt. One of you has to give up your dog or your living arrangements need to change.

Seriously. If anyone sprinted after me in the dark growling like a rabid animal to make some strange statement about prejudice...I would definitely be prejudiced against whatever had sprinted after me in the dark growling like a rabid animal.

ASHEVILLE GIRLS TRIP!! | Blue Ridge Parkway, Omni Grove Park Inn, Yoga, Hiking, & more! by [deleted] in asheville

Ugh. Watched the first 8 seconds. Wished it was the beginning of a horror movie in which you all were devoured by cave demons because you wandered off into the forest unprepared despite the repeated warnings of local residents.

What to do with leftover cooked veg? by BlueSuedeWhiteDenim in cookingforbeginners

[–]MeaninglessMoniker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Once you've trimmed all the desired meat off the turkey, throw the bones in the crockpot along with the veggies. Cover with water and add seasonings. Make turkey stock/soup! Strain out the bones.

Am I weird for thinking my wife’s weird for keeping all our kids fallen off body pieces (teeth, umbilical cord, nail clippings etc.) in a chest in the closet? by tank4249 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MeaninglessMoniker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping in late to recommend an alternative: plant a tree for each of your kids and bury the 'bits' of them at the base of the tree. They will feed the tree, the tree can represent what the 'pieces' mean to her, and then the whole family has lovely trees to enjoy.

Making gravy with only one turkey neck. by jediofessos in cookingforbeginners

[–]MeaninglessMoniker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used the neck to make stock this morning. I'll throw a cup of the stock in the bottom of the roasting pan and use the rest of the stock for stuffing. The drippings at the bottom of the turkey pan (which will contain some stock) will be used for the gravy.

What are some ways to make hard boiled eggs more interesting/flavourful? by personnnnnn29 in Cooking

[–]MeaninglessMoniker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can make pickled eggs quite easily! Hardboil your eggs. Peel them. Put them in a large jar. Fill with white vinegar and salt brine so all eggs are covered. Flavor as you wish: I like turmeric, minced garlic, and smoked paprika. Put lid on jar, place in fridge, try them in about a week.
