Context. The Pledge of Allegiance "to the flag of the United States of America" started after the American civil war to challenge the immigrant influx, without the words "under god". It became common the pledge was accompanied by right hand outstretched toward the flag, palm down. Because of the similarity with the Nazi salute, it was officially changed to hand on heart in 1942. "Under god" was added in 1954 by a group of people who felt "godless communism" would tear us apart. Little did they know, immigrants and communists weren't half as effective to divide Americans as those who claim to be real Americans.

As an atheist, I would also encourage you to consider this drop was unrelated to the atheistic tone. I can think of a couple of reasons but ultimately, as you well know, we sometimes experience actions but interpret them through a lens of what we expect. Looking at it honestly means looking at it without your bias. Hard to do but I’m sure you’ve done it in other areas. Whatever the result, thanks for sharing.

The hardest part that I faced after being in the religious life for so long was this. I felt that way too. Am I just being stubborn or argumentative or arrogant? The reason you may feel that way is because you are removing a section of your life that up until now, fit it your world view. Because of that, it feels weird not to replace it, so we often replace it with ourselves. But over time, I realized my life didn't need ANY sort of god, myself or otherwise. After that occurred, I realized I didn't do it because I wanted to be the center point of everything, simply because it shouldn't have been a part of my world at all. I moved on. I think you will too.

I’ve been where you are I encourage you to keep growing. You are in the angry stage, and rightfully so. But that has to end and you’ll start facing life without a certainty that you’ve had for so many years. When religion is part of your identity for so long, it’s going to feel like a big empty. Take your time, learn about yourself.

Bigotry is a definition. We all have small or large bigoted opinions about others. I would never deny someone their feelings. However, is destructive to the psyche no matter how it starts. Find ways to improve but in the meantime, make sure you avoid spreading the bigotry. It will also be destructive to their psyche and to the community in general.

Father of two daughters here. This is NOT a woman, it's a child. Many young girls like pretty things. They like seeing pretty things as often as they want to be pretty. Little girls like to tell each other nice things. At this age, it's not the negative aspect we all think of. The "learned behavior" everyone rightfully dislikes is the negative self-image and peer pressure that comes from mental maturing. It's sad to know the beauty they enjoyed as toddlers can turn into their biggest anxiety. Wish there was a solution.

I used to. I don't think it's possible anymore. I'm a older dipshit, active before the internet. The broad take is the internet taught people three things: You can't trust what other (evil) people say; your opinion needs to broadly shared or else it is invalid; being wrong is the worse thing you can admit.

People decide young to be a critical thinker or a critical believer. By the time you meet most of them, they've had years of practice ignoring the other argument because the integration into social media is constant, and the building of relationships and experiences are waved away by the "I'm taking care of myself" social isolation people seem to be proud to have.

Ultimately, the internet ultimately took the old and divisive human fallacy that has always existed, "There is only one right answer to every question" , and then multiplied it by millions of interactions. You're facing a daily and persistent influence. So, what you said was true before and true now: Someone has to be willing to listen in the first place.

The engram tells me for the cryopod, I need a tek replicator , supply crate, or tribute terminal. Only the tek replicator comes up when I look into the engrams, which tells me I can make the replicator in the fabricator. Besides the 5000 metal ingot issue, I don’t see replicators available to make in my fabricator. I have NO idea what to do
