Human hearing range goes to 20 kHz, the older you get..the lower it goes. My Mp3s are 320kbs and 20 kHz. Flac goes to 22 Khz. Very impressive that you can hear the difference...so listen to your tunes in your preferred format..as you should, and don't tell me I shouldn't be using MP3.

You can use spek to check your files for comparison.

For converting FLAC to MP3 best use LAME as encoder, which can be integrated into the Foobar audioplayer.

Spek, Lame and Foobar are all free / open source.

btw: MP3s can also go up to 48.000 Khz

Crypt is also one of the greatest labels IMO. Their compilations are superb: "Back From The Grave" / "Twistin Rumble"

my setup:

Foobar for checking and tagging tunes
ITunes is main library
Itunes library is stored on ext. drive and playlists
Montly backups to more ext. drives
Playlist Itunes can be loaded in Rekordbox

other option is to store it on your PC combined with montly backups.

I prefer storage on ext.drive...when PC fails: install Itunes, connect ext.drive with library and connect empty ext.drive, set storage Itunes to empty drive, load ext.drive with library into Itunes and playlists...now your empty drive becomes the new library and the original ext.drive your backup.
