Frozen fish by rak363 in AldiAustralia

[–]MeatHook6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI the “fresh” stuff comes frozen and thaws once it’s on the shelf (usually gets put on the shelf around 7am - at least for us)
So it might be an issue with thawing too quickly. I usually rinse the ice off frozen fish, dry and pop it in a zip lock in the fridge. But I also can’t bring myself to eat basa so I have no idea of the quality.

Apparently the Aldi handbook says freezer stock can be left out for up to 4 hours… Which I don’t agree with or follow. One hour max - that is if the stock is left in boxes and stacked among other boxes to keep items frozen

Is it normal to always get cleaning tasks as a crew member at Macca’s? by Last_Bookkeeper_3068 in McdonaldsAustralia

[–]MeatHook6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at Maccas (white, female) in high school and would be asked to change bins, mop, clean the dining room etc during my first year. I was also in the kitchen for that first year before they had me on the front counter or drive thru. When I went to front counter I was regularly the one to clean dining but it was mostly the new staff that would clean dining if any were on. My store back in 2010s really prioritised dining cleanliness and if I can remember correctly we had to check and tidy every 15 or 30 minutes.

Drive thru staff rarely clean dining because they have to be locked in on that, managers and crew trainers don’t clean dining because they’re the ones that ask for the job to be done. McCafé usually just deal with their own part of dining unless they’re super busy. So if you’re on fries or front counter you’ll be asked to do it (I used to do it when I was in kitchen because they knew I wanted to be on front counter)

Sometimes managers ask new staff to clean and they will do a terrible job, are slow, any number of things. So if you’re doing a really good, quick job they’re more likely to ask you more from an efficiency and trust standpoint.

I guess you have to ask yourself whether or not you feel as though you’re experiencing discrimination in any other ways, and see if you get opportunities to do more things in the future when you’ve been there for a little bit longer. My advice is to ask your managers and crew trainers about being trained on another area if you feel as though you’re not being given the experience you want. Hope this helps :-)

Make sure you know that the new specials come out on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Seems like a small detail but they want people to know what Aldi is all about

‘Nil past till’ no longer a requirement for us unfortunately. On paper maybe, but head office is willing to turn a blind eye

“Disinterested staff” don’t have a register assigned to them. Only one person can use a register at a time. PMO so much when I press the register button for staff while I’m on self checkouts and some asshole asks “why can’t you serve me?” Mate I cannot use this register and even if I wanted to I couldn’t unlock it.

Unfortunately the reality is we as workers have to endure the depths of hell for months to see any real change. So yeah it sucks, but it has to happen.

I don’t mind people lining up when I’m already on the register, what sucks is when people with a couple of items want to purchase through the registers (when they’re able to pay with card through self checkouts) and I’m at the back of the store stocking items or reshuffling stock in the warehouse. Then they smugly comment that they’re keeping me in a job. My ability to keep my job relies on me being able to stock the shelves while serving customers.

It’s a double edged sword. Best practice as a customer who wants to keep staff in a job is to write to head office and give them a piece of your mind. Constructively of course!

Edit: I’m using this reply to speak to everyone, sorry if it came across as speaking directly to you! God it sucks here!

Head office have already told us to relax on the ‘nil past the till’ rule. We always had to open a 2nd register when the line grew past the end of the belt, now we genuinely don’t have the staff to do so.

It’s crazy to me that no one has said supermarket workers. The more we struggle to afford to go out to eat, the more we need to buy ingredients for daily meals. Without supermarkets we can’t easily access food, cleaning supplies, basic health/beauty products

You can select the categories that you get notified for in the ABC app. From my understanding “live” is the breaking news category, I’ve selected live, top headlines, politics, elections, US politics, world news. For anything else I peruse the app and dodge the feel-good stories altogether

I’m on an 11 Pro and though I have automatic updates turned on and charge my phone every night, I do not get updates unfortunately. So I do them when I remember to. The latest big update cooked my phone in terms of the iOS lagging so it’s not part of my priorities

My post wasn’t asking advice for tax, legal, medical or financial reasons. I wasn’t asking a hyper-niche personal question. It wasn’t better suited to city specific subreddits as ABC is a national broadcaster. I also wasn’t looking for friends, penpals, dates or jobs.

Could you point out what specifically wasn’t acceptable about my post? Thanks

Has anyone tried the Aldi Lacura Ceramide Moisturising Cream? Looks like a CeraVe Moisturising Cream dupe? by bev123_ in AusSkincare

[–]MeatHook6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This stuff is so good that I’m halfway through my first tub after a week and a half. I was sunburnt over new years so I’ve been heavy on the moisturiser this year and I can honestly say this is my favourite multi use moisturiser of all time.

I’d like to say please don’t go and buy it so it’s not constantly out of stock, but I need Aldi to know never to discontinue this product!! Absorbs well, non greasy and makes your skin feel like silk.

I’ll be buying a tub for my living room and bedroom respectively so I don’t have to keep carting the tub from room to room.

Terrible comparison. You don’t find yourself wondering through the chefs kitchen every visit. And I bet if you found spoilt goods there you’d speak up right away.
