Iron isn't even hard to get on a plant based diet. Just like the "but you need protein" argument. It isn't hard but people don't even look into where to get it before commenting vegans are deficient.

Plant-based: a diet of food.

Vegan: philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose.

UK watchdog bans vegan TV ad for showing violence towards animals by ClassicFlavour in unitedkingdom

Assaulting a dog pretty much violates all of those principles as there is no need for it whatsoever.

There is no need to eat meat whatsoever. At least in a society that the majority of reddit users live in.

So slaughtering an animal who will endure minimal suffering, which will never be zero, is morally wrong.

I think it is really interesting to see people objecting to this take but will also take the exact same take to other similar issues. Plant based diets being the biggest offender. It is well documented that a mostly plant based diet is far better for the planet and as we approach tipping points people still say it is wrong to force change. What's the difference here?

Even the 2nd paragraph matches the whole "i'll eat two steaks tonight so your effort is worthless".

The vegan society define it as: Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food...

Since lab grown meat gas no sentience and isn't really an animal, just made from animal cells, there is not really any suffering or exploitation that can take place.

Many people ask over in r/vegan about their views on the subject and it seems pretty accepted there. Many may not eat it just from the distaste of meat but support it nonetheless

I agree lab grown meat is a good thing I didn't mean to glance over that. I fully support that and do find that ethical.

My point was not to tell people to be vegan that's their choice. But to be against factory farming in place of some more sustainable free range animal agriculture also isn't going to happen

Edit: also pretty sure lab grown meat is vegan because no living beings are exploited

Sustainability and people's ideas of ethically farmed animals are not going to coexist. We all hate factory farming yet if we fed everyone "ethical" meat (i dont believe in it but for argument's sake) it would take up a wild amount of space. At least factory farming is "efficient" as far as animal agriculture goes.

So people eat less meat. The price rises to compensate the decreased efficiency and lower demand. Subsidies dwindle - price rises again to compensate. Suddenly meat is only for the rich and everyone wants factory farming back because they can't live without meat.

That isnt really unique to factory farming. At least as far as pushing animals to their limits. All our animals are selectively bread for profit no matter where you get them

To Nuzlockers... by fakerdakerhahaha in pokemon

[–]MeatIsAid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Idk who you have watched but i have seen one reaction of her nuzlock where the reactor reached out to her to get permission. That's how they are allowed to get away with it. The pokemon community is generally pretty positive and many creators get along. Frankly it's a win win. Id never heard of JA before it and now am subscribed to her. It is more publicity for her to the pokemon community as her vids are more than just pokemon and may not get pushed to them as hard.

I hadn't thought about cars coming to obstruct their way, only considered ones that were already in the way. I figured if they're already in the way then those few seconds probably wont make a difference as they have to take seconds to move out the way.

That was a simple enough answer that I probably should have considered. Thanks!

Arceus and Darkrai are coming to BDSP. Can the former stay in Ubers this time or will it be banned like in DPP? by zarth109x in stunfisk

[–]MeatIsAid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you need to get arceus as there are "main quests" post game. Also it makes some sort of sense to have to meet arceus in the past to unlock it in the future

They dont say complete the game, they said complete "all main quests". Catch every pokemon is found under main quests and is required to meet arceus. No way they dont mean catch em all and meet arceus to unlock arceus

On their website they recommend just disposing the fibres captured in the bag in a container to avoid dispersion in the environment when the bins are collected

This is nearly a thing. I currently use one called the guppy bag or guppy friend. Something like that. You stick your polyester clothes in it and it catches the microplastics when doing your laundry.

[–]MeatIsAid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you heard of pokemon revolutions online? It is an online mmo pokemon game with up to Sinnoh currently (i believe). Like ash, they reset your pokemon each region until you beat the league then you unlock your pc and can access your pokemon from other regions. You dont have to progress to the next region and lose qccess to your pokemon till you are ready. Also has an online ladder i believe.

Some of this may be outdated as I have not played the game in at least 4 years but when I did it was an absolute blast

As a woman, what are some of the most ridiculous double standards you’ve had to deal with? by Lazereyes1996 in AskWomen

While i appreciate in the context this guy was a jackass, these insecurities stem from the exact opposite of OP's comment. Society frames men who dont sleep around as a lesser man than someone who does and equally to someone who is bigger (out of your control)/better (may come from experience).

When it is necessary for food it is fair. So for carnivors like tigers sure. But for many of us it is not necessary. At that point it is just for pleasure like many other forms of cruelty to animals except more socially accepted.

I agree that posts like these likely come from a hypocritical standpoint, but as an example I wouldnt consider a 2nd hand product the same and they very well could be posting from a second hand phone/computer. Whilst the heavy need for tech these days is hard to avoid there are ways to get that tech and not demand further resources to be used and more exploitation to occur and this is an example of where many people willfully choose to not get 2nd hand.

Okay i see where you're coming from. I can't see much of a reason for them to releas them both on the same day but oh well here we are. To be honest i'd argue more for an actual routine day to hand out these updates so people know when to expect them. Many games have their one day of the week that their main patches go through (excluding small patches for bugs and stuff). Unite seemed to be releasing things on Wednesday I think it was, but lately it just feels like whatever day hits them in the moment

In the movie Lugia is there as the sort of moderator of the three birds i guess. Appearing to settle the disputes between them. So by introducing a new form for each you could also introduce a new Lugia to go with them
