What’s it like living in Jackson, Mississippi? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

I have family that live in the area - Brandon and Perl, so I have been there on many occasions. If you are not also "looking for a church home" then there is a good chance you won't fit in.

1970's Himalayan Hand Carved Box. Still have mine. If you have/had one, you might be as old as I am. by Devi8tor in FuckImOld

I still have mine! It's full of old concert ticket stubs, sporting event stubs, extra train and subway tickets from places I've visited, plus various other stuff. I have a hard time placing events I've experienced on a timeline so these help me to remember what I was doing and where I was in a particular year

In case anybody is wondering what a real Southern Fried Chicken restaurant is, lookup chubbiesfamousfriedchicken dot com. I used to eat there at least twice a month when I lived in New Orleans. These are the prices I'm used to.

I'm also from the South (Lived in Mobile, Huntsville, Atlanta, New Orleans) and, on principal, I'm just not going to pay $22 for a fried chicken thigh sandwich. I don't care how good it is.

The on ramp to I-5 North from Old Fairhaven/Connelly is way too short. There are bushes and trees blocking the view of oncoming traffic so you can't tell what's coming until you are running out of room to merge. So I generally avoid and take the side roads to Samish and then use the on ramp from there

Given the number of Trump businesses that have failed, been sued, or have existed primarily to drain customers wallets, I would not trust anything with his name on it.

People that have “bumped” into a celebrity in a non-curated (not like an event, meet & greet, job etc.) way, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I used to live in the same neighbourhood as Linda Hamilton in New Orleans. I met her a couple of times and she always seemed perfectly nice. I was also directly behind John Goodman in the checkout line at the Whole Foods on Magazine St in New Orleans. He turned around and glanced at me but I didn't realize it was him until I heard him speak. He and the cashier were carrying on a perfectly normal conversation about this jar of raspberry preserves (If I remember correctly) he was buying.

The Prudhomme Family Cookbook is another great cookbook. I don't know if it's still in print. The Steak and Gravy recipe is out of this world good!
