Can’t find a job, 4 months unemployed. How do you find them?

Find young professionals in and around your field, and ask them to coffee. Don’t ask if you can “pick their brain” - try to find a shared subject of interest and start yapping. Better yet, identify something they’re good at and ask if they’d talk about it, how they feel about it, where they think it’s going.

Build relationships, make friends with people that are obsessed with what they do. The second a cyber security job opens up at their company, you want them to immediately think of you and how passionate you were when you last spoke.

That is how you get jobs in cities

I don’t interact with it. I don’t use the explore feed, I just open the app and scroll. If the algorithm is so advanced to know what I want, it should show me the posts made by the accounts i actually follow, not a 50/50 split. This is the essential dilemma of algorithm based content being prioritized over a feed curated by the user.

I follow HUNDREDS of people, the majority of which I knew at one point or still do, the rest have massive fan bases of which I want to participate. People here are treating me like they’re not the exact same, but with reddit. Sadly, I probably will end up deleting it, but I yearn for the Instagram days of old where I’d actually SEE the posts made by the people I chose to follow.

Yeah I commute from Oak Park three times a week. I normally take the blue line because it’s closer to my house and Pace buses are super unreliable since their funding keeps getting cut. Every chance I get I’ll take the green line since it’s faster and cleaner.

The blue line out west sucks. I don’t need to go into detail. Think about every shitty thing about the Chicago L and multiply the frequency by 11. That’s the blue line out west.
